This is a PS3 exclusive cross anime mech game. I'm not sure how many people in the video game section even like anime mechs, but thought I'd post this anyway.

Here's the article link http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=7944

It will be pulling mechs from -

"- Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
- Full Metal Panic!
- Genesis of Aquarion
- Macross Zero
- Macross Frontier
- Mobile Suit Z Gundam
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
- Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam
- Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
- Overman King Gainer
- Super Dimension Century Orguss
- Banpresto Originals"

So Gundam, Macross, Code Geass, and Full Metal Panic, awesome! It also doesn't hurt that the game looks gorgeous. My main worries tho are that mech games are hit or miss (usually miss) with gameplay and controls, and the licensing problems when they try to bring it over to the US might make it not see release over here. I hope it does tho, I love mech animes and this has some great anime series it's pulling mechs from. I think it has potential.

I saw this posted today for the first time on the EpicBattleAxe Forum and I got chills watching the clip. As I was watching the clip, I was thinking "Man, the only thing that could make this better is if Aquarion is in.", and even before I actually finished that thought, there he was! I felt like a little kid again. :D

The Another Century's Episode series are easily my favorite Mecha games. This is totally going on my must buy list.

I'm so looking forward to bust some metal heads with Aquarion.

It looks like we're the only Mecha Fans around here. It's too bad, I would've liked to find some people I can play online against or even together if this supports co-op.

Yeah. Sometimes it's hard to get a thread going. I started a One Piece thread, and it only survived a few weeks because of a few new ppl to the Hype.

BTW, you mentioned others in this series. How does it play if you played them? I love mech games, but most seem to be extremes for me. Either the gameplay accurately or in a super robot fun way matches the great mechs in the game, or the controls are sluggish or just wonky and the gameplay repetitive.

The controls feel very good. At least for the 2nd and 3rd game in the series. The first game felt somewhat sluggish. The controls are easy to learn, feel intuitive and you'll quickly dash back, forward, upward, downward, sideways, boost over the entire map and dance around your opponent as you exchange laser fire and dozens of homing missiles.

For the PS2, the character models looked great, although the textures of the maps were kinda low-res, but it wasn't much of a problem since you were mostly high up in the sky and busy shooting and punching dozens of enemy robots and drones.

I don't know what I could compare it with. Maybe Zone of the Enders 2? Though I haven't played that in a while (Because I can't find it! :argh:). But it doesn't have the sweet grab function, where you can grab an enemy and use him as a weapon, or any other objects in the environment.

You can upgrade your Mechs, but they are just simple things like improving defense, speed, damage, etc. So no customization like the Armored Core series. The Mechs come with all the weapons and moves you know from the Anime. As you level you can earn additional combos, but that's it. But it's cool, you combine melee attacks with your basic gun or whatever you have instead and get some pretty cool and often devastating moves as a result. For example, when you play the Wing Gundam and press attack (circle), followed by shoot (square), you'll kick/punch your opponent, then pull a gun and shoot him straight in the face, and when that kills him, shoot a second shot at the closest target.

I didn't think the Missions felt repetitive. But then again, I love playing with Mechs and to simply bust dozens of enemy Mecha waves. But I think the Mission objectives vary enough.

Some vids of the other games for the PS2.

Seriously, anyone who calls himself a Mecha Fan and owns a PS2, has to own A.C.E. 2 and 3.
