Damn Brandy, had another album coming out too. :csad:

The parents of the woman killed in a car crash involving Brandy are suing the R&B singer for $50 million.

TMZ obtained the lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Lawyers for the family of the deceased claim, "Defendant Brandy Norwood was driving recklessly in the freeway when her car collided with Awatif Aboudihaj's car."

The $50 million lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles City Attorney is considering the CHP's recommendation to criminally charge Brandy with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

y'know, i'm very sorry for the victim's parent's loss and everything... but does anyone hear actually think that they deserve $50 million? could they be more obvious gold-diggers? i think that they see an oppurtunity in their daughter's death, and are going for it, and that really kind of disgusts me.

(i haven't been following this case too closely, but as far as i know) brandy wasn't driving drunk, or otherwise impared or anything, and this was just... an accident. it happens all the time. i think that brandy deserves whatever the typical penalty for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter is. no way do these parents deserve 50 mill for this.

He's thinking that $50M would buy a whole lot of Swedish supermodel hookers, most likely, so he doesn't have time for values.
having a child smooch off you for 18+ years = minus 100,000 bucks.

suing brandy for that childs death = plus 50 million bucks

having mindblowing sex with beautiful women every night till the day you die = priceless :woot:

It's called negligent driving and a person should be held accountable if it results in a death.

that's very true, a person should be held accountable for whatever crime they commit, regardless of who they are, but just because a person has more money, doesn't mean that they ought to pay more for their crime.

these parents are trying to cash in on their daughter's death. plain and simple.

So a rich person should go to county jail for a month than go back to being super-rich after killing a mother and destroying a family's life?

The best way to punish a rich person is by a taking a huge chunk of their fortune. Otherwise they live a life of luxury while the children they orphaned live without a mother to support them.

I sympathize with the parents but would they be suing for $50 million if it wasn't a celebrity. Looks like they are trying to make a quick buck of their daughters death or they have a really greedy lawyer who is out to get as much money as he can.

Being a celebrity has got nothing to do with the $50 million. When there is a wrongful death, they look at a persons worth and then try to take it all. Like if one of the hype posters killed someone, the victims family would probably seek $50, all their comics and memorabilia and all their movies and video games it would pretty much crush their life.

No no no. your posts are meaningless.
but that particular one was a terrifying window into your psyche.
If all my post are meaningless to you then you may have dyslexia.

of course you probably misread dyslexia to read "da sex lolita". :csad:

I bet she was on her cell phone... in which case she should be beaten with a sack full of them and then go to jail.

Did you think the same of Nicole Simpson's parents when they tried to sue OJ Simpson for millions?

And for all of you keeping score...

To be fair I wouldn't kill my child until it reached adulthood. That's more humane than abortion IMO.

I heard she was driving the speed limit the car infront of her suddenly stopped which caused a chain reaction. I believe it was an accident not by alcohol.

i havent heard booze was a factor yet but everyone who saw it said she wasnt paying attention and i think a few mentioned a phone or somthin. The car stopped because the car in front of it stop because of slowing traffic.Thats what i caught the other day but it could be hear say, either way she shoulda jumped out and wrote a major check.

if that's what would happen to a "middle class income" person's life who caused an accident, then, yes.

if i, (a person who makes 20-something thousand a year) killed a person in an accident (and i stress: accident) would i be charged 50 million? no. i would not. i would pay some fine, and do jail time (most likely). brandy deserves that, too. just beause she's talented (by whoever's standards) and makes more money, doesn't mean that she deserves to pay more for for commiting the same exact crime.

If that person has 5,000 dollars in the bank you better believe they could be sued for 100% of their wealth in a wrongful death civil lawsuit.

But the money probably wouldn't be worth it after legal fees.

I agree, they should try to convict her, not sue her.

that's a stupid comparison. a very, very stupid, one, actually.

brandy didn't purposefully find this girl, and run her down in her car for some personal vendetta... it was a damn car accident.

OJ stabbed all those people to death.

there's a big difference.

no, actually, they really don't do that. if some poor (or at least close to it) guy kills someone accidentally (in a car, or otherwise) they send him to jail, and whatever other penalty the law calls for... and that's about it. if that person has no money, they don't sue him. stop watching judge joe brown.

i'll say it again: just because someone makes or has more money, doesn't mean they should have to pay more for the crimes they commit.

One is manslaughter the other is vehicular manslaughter. Both are suitable for wrongful death claims.

From wikepidia regarding wrongful death claims:
"The death must have been caused, in whole or in part, by the defendant's conduct, even though there was no direct intention to kill the victim. The defendant must have been deemed negligent or strictly liable for the victim's death. Also the deceased has dependent party such as family members who have suffered from emotional and monetary damages as a result of the death."

I'm sorry to tell you this but they do get money from people even if they have no money. A guy who lived 3 houses down from me killed an 8 year old boy. It was involuntary vehicular homcide. He got 10 years in jail and had to pay 10k to the family. Since they guy had no family around they sold his house and gave 10k of the money to the family and Judge Joe Brown had nothing to do with it.

that may very well be true (and i say "very well" because i'm not entirely sure you didn't make that up just to "prove" your point) but that doesn't make it right.

are the parents of the descesed girl missing out on any money from their daughter being dead? i think not...

like i said: that sucks that their daughter died, and i'm very sorry for their loss, but people die every day. people die from smoking cigartettes, getting hit by busses, falling off of cliffs, drinking, drowning, and whatever other accidents that may happen...

... that doesn't mean that their families deserve any money, let alone $50 million dollars.
