Documentary/Biopic Anthony Bourdain Biopic ‘Tony’ | Dominic Sessa, Antonio Banderas

Bourdain passing still kinda feels alien to me, like loosing an actual friend. I still mourn him till this day.

It’s definitely one of those celebrity/famous deaths that hit very hard. Like Robin Williams, whose 10 year anniversary was actually two days ago. :csad:

Given the youth of the actor cast, I am assuming this will be an adaptation of Bourdain's groundbreaking memoir "Kitchen Confidential". It will be great to finally see that story done justice after the last time around Hollywood adapted it into a garbage network sitcom starring Bradley Cooper as Bourdain.

Wasn't Burnt also based on Bourdain? I remember not liking it when I saw it.
Nope. Bourdain was never a fine dining chef nor particularly serious about his craft. He basically graduated from the CIA and whereas those who wanted to be great followed up cooking school with various apprenticeships, especially to France, Bourdain succumbed to the offers of quick and easy offers of positions as head chefs by wannabe restauranteurs who didn't know any better. He then took that income and lived a wild young party life involving sex and drugs in 70s-80s NYC.

When he got sober in the 90s, Bourdain got a journeyman position running a simple bistro putting out solid, but not sophisticated food, during which he wrote his book.

Yeah after looking it up, it looks like Gordon Ramsay was a producer on Burnt. Make sense. lol

Antonio Banderas is set to co-star opposite Dominic Sessa in Tony, the Anthony Bourdain movie from A24, Star Thrower and Zapruder Films. Matt Johnson is directing from a script by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe.

The logline is under wraps, but sources say the film takes place during the summer of 1976, when a young Anthony Bourdain has a life-changing summer in Provincetown. It is unknown who Banderas will play.

A24 will produce with Tim and Trevor White under their Star Thrower banner, along with Johnson and Matthew Miller through their Zapruder Films. Chris Stinson, Amy Greene, Howe, Bartels and Emily Rose will executive produce. Kimberly Witherspoon, who represents Bourdain’s estate, will also executive produce.
