Superman Returns Anyone else form an SR group viewing event?

Well, so far I have gotten together 22 people as a group to see SR

I had everyone fork over their money and acted as a director of an event and bought IMAX tickets for the 27th at 10:00 pm

Why am I doing this? Crazy? Nope... Wanna help box office? Nope, could not care less... The reason? So I can get the seating that I want and by getting tickets early for that many people, it will keep out some of the last minute idiot teenagers

I have two events -- potentially four actually.

The main event is a Superman party I'm having. Me and ten other friends are getting together at my place, bringing food, wine, and liqour, I'm making a Superman cake, and having a party.

My friends are non-fans, but they love me enough to indulge my nerdiness. So for the past ten days, up until the film's premiere, they've been getting emailed Supe of the Days, a little factiod about Superman Returns, Superman, or Bryan Singer that countdowns to the movie's release. I do them at my job, which is on a computer, where I'm -- guess it...-- really bored.

Anyway, at the party we play trivia games based on these emails and play odd games like the guess who's on your back using Superman things. Yes, we're a bunch of college seniors, drinking, partying, and then with Superman. haha.

Then, the next day, Tuesday, we're going to the 10 o'clock showing. Then I'll be vvisiting my friend in San Jose, CA where I'll see it with him and his roommates who I've convinced to go see it on IMAX. When I get back, I'll see it with my six siblings, their children, my mother, and my cousin.

Yes, I generate so much money for these films.

I got people to go by making it sound exclusive saying "It's not supposed to come out until the 30th but this is like a presale thing. You get to see it before opening night!"

That gets everyone on board Also to ensure they go, offer to buy the tickets for them and once you hit a certain amount of people by them all at once.

I've got a group of friends organized, just 6 of us. Nothing major. It's cool. I'm hoping to have a lil Superman movie night towards the end of this week with a lineup featuring some of the Fleischer toons, the George Reeves show, STM, Smallville, and a dvd I'll burn with some SR stuff [trailers, etc].

My cousin and I are going... So that's what? Two people? Yup... Personally, I hate going to see movies with large groups. They never shut up and always want to talk about what they just saw. This happened with Spider-Man 2 (which wasn't awful for me as I didn't love that movie).

June 27 10pm IMAX 3D... I can't wait. I've never been to an IMAX before, so I'm excited about the picture and sound quality. My regular theater is OK.

I imagine that seeing Superman Returns will be amazing in itself, but to see it with a monster screen, digital quality and a splash of 3D is going to blow my mind.

Where do you recommend I sit? Are there any particular spots in the an IMAX that are best?

Though you'd think the very back is best, DO NOT... Go just slightly farther back than the middle and your picture viewing will be better.

yeah the folks at work are trying to get a viewing after the midnight screening, since most of them wont make it to the theater on time we're trying to see if we can rent it out for a "sunrise" screening

If it counts, I made up a lot of little groups going to the theatre at different dates. The 27th, I'm attending the 10:00 showing with three friends, and then a couple more people for the IMAX showing on the evening of the 28th. Then again on the weekend.

I'm going to try and get some friends together for the movie. I definitely need to get my wife and brother-in-law to watch the first two movies. (I know, I married into a family who for the most part have never seen the original film, shame on me, or shame on them, whatever you feel is appropriate). I'd like to get a group to do the first two in succession (either over two days or in one day). i don't have near enough friends that would indulge in an actual party, let alone my wife's dread fear of dying of embarrassment. So those are my plans thus far. Pretty lame, but in truth I'd go see the damn movie by myself if no one wanted to see it with me. The big debate is wheter I should see it opening day or not...
