I Need Help, its due tomorrrow...dont know what im doing
Any Help Would Be Appreciated! Thanks!

1. Each base on a standard baseball diamond lies 90 feet from the next. Find the distance the catcher must throw a baseball from 3 feet behind home plate to second base.

2. A train is traveling up a slight grade with an angle of inclination of only . After traveling 1 mile what is the vertical change in feet?

3. Water Slide. The angle of elevation from the base to the top of a waterslide is about 13˚. The slide extends horizontally about 58.2 meters. Estimate the height of the slide.

4. Water Slide. The “Drop of Death” water slide advertised that it drops 6 floors. If a “floor” is considered to be 4 meters high and the slide extends horizontally about 10 meters. Estimate the angle of depression of the slide.

6. Hiking. You are hiking up a mountain peak. You begin hiking a trailhead whose elevation is about 9400 feet. The trail ends near the summit at 14,255 feet. The horizontal distance between where you started and stopped is about 17,625 feet. Estimate the angle of elevation from the trailhead to the summit.

7. Ramps. The Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards specify that the ramp angle used for a wheelchair ramp must be less than or equal to 4.76˚. The length of one ramp is 20 feet. The vertical rise is 17 inches. Estimate the ramp’s horizontal distance and its ramp angle. Does this ramp follow the UFA Standards?

8. A 48-inch wide screen television means that the measure along the diagonal is 48 inches. If the screen is square, what are the dimensions of the length and width?

9. The doorway of the family room measures 6.5 feet by 3 feet. What is the length of the diagonal of the doorway?

The answer is B, waffles.

You callin me a liar? :mad:

If you were paying attention at all in class... they may have mentioned a dude named Pythagoras... sort of came up with a decent formula... google it instead of asking dumbasses on a movie board.

A^2 + B^2 = C^2

Sine = Opposite/Hypotenuse

Cosine = Adjacent/Hypotenuse

Tangent = Opposite/Adjacent

Use these.

well it is the community forum

Damn, I'm pretty good in math but I haven't gone over this stuff in years:csad:

I thought the answers were in the back of the book. :huh:

lol, they were when I was in high school and they still are now in college :woot:

i know all that
but in the problems i dont know what the hell is going on....
Try to visualize these things as right triangles.

For the baseball diamond, for example, consider the right triangle of Homeplate to First Base to Second Base. Draw it out if it helps.

Otherwise, your problem isn't math: it's reading comprehension, and that's something I just can't help you with.

Draw a right traingle... plug in the ****ing numbers... I hope you are in ninth grade or something man... this section never gives anyone trouble in geometry I must admit.

well i appreciate your efforts :)

well i appreciate your efforts :)

Are you just not understanding the terms? Inclination... if you draw your right triangle elevating to your right... is the angle to the left of the right angle obviously... some times the problems give you different perspectives, view points, and starting points... all you got to do is add and subtract and find the horizontal and vertical componenets (or diagonal) components separately before plunging the numbers in.

Should we help you with your dishes and mow the lawn too?
