It's easily the best choreography work YWP has done in years.
It's at least as good as Fist of Legend, Drunken Master or Iron Monkey, if not BETTER.

Perfect combination of old school classical style, wire-fu (to enhance the action not to make people "fly") and the newer fast kickboxing style.
You see everything....Tai Chi applied to combat perfectly, hard kickboxing styles, internal styles, wrestling, Tae Kwon Do, Ninjitsu (at least, the movie kind), stick fighting, blah blah.

I cannot stress this enough, the fighting choreography in this movie (well, condensed TV series anyway) is of the HIGHEST QUALITY possible.
If you're into this stuff, do not miss it.

You can get it for like 16 bucks here.

Billy Chow, who plays General Fujita in Fist of Legend, is the main villain in The Tai Chi Master and he gets many excellent and long fights.
His fighting performance is easily better than the one in FoL (which I truly love)

Okay, the fights scenes are good. That's a good thing. But, is the story any good?

It's a bit fast paced (it is a 25 half an hour episodes series condensed into a 2 hour movie, after all), but it's very fun and interesting.

    YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I love this movie!!!! The different levels of the temple thing is soo awesome! Have you seen Tai Chi 2/Tai Chi Fist, its got the same actors so its pretty similar, but its an actual movie. Its pretty good, not as good as this though. I really want to get the entire series, but you can only get it without subtitles....

BTW, have you ever seen the older movies these guys did?? I think my fav kung fu movie of all time is Taoism Drunkard. The guy who did most of the fight coreography in this (Yuen Chiang Yan..or something like that) directed it, and it is crazy! Way more silliness than this but its pretty cool, completely over the top! Also the other ones Ping did like Drunken Tai Chi, Shaolin Drunkard, Miracle Fighters etc.. BEST KUNG FU EVER!!

Looks like we're going to be good friends  :D

Yeah, I actually own the movie version of this, but yeah, it's not as good.
The american bad guy looked like he was constipated :(
And the fights were not as good, but it's still decent.

I freaking LOVE Drunken Tai Chi....Donnie was talented from the beginning

I just love his final fight against Yuen Shun I....soft style vs. hard style

I also love Dance of the Drunk Mantis which is basically Drunken Master 1 with better fights and styles and Yuen Shun I (who looked more acrobatic than Jackie Chan!)

Plus, Hwang Jang Lee does his usual kicking PLUS drunken mantis....awesome

Edit: Ahhh....you talk about Yuen Cheung Yan (Yuen Wo Ping's brother)....pfffft the guy directed some crazy movies indeed!
