From IGN Movies:
Am I the only one that wanted to see Lone Wolf and Cub? Oh well, still looking forward to anything he puts out. Aronofsky rocks.
January 19, 2007 - A psychological thriller set in the world of ballet? Why not. The Fountain helmer Darren Aronofsky is eyeing Black Swan, the story of a manipulative relationship between a veteran dancer and a rival, as his next film. The project was just picked up by Universal.
Aronofsky is attached to direct, reports today's Variety, from a script by John McLaughlin. The pair previously collaborated on an HBO series pilot about haunted houses, as well as an adaptation of the horror novel Song of Kali.
The studio is reportedly putting Black Swan on the fast track. The movie was reportedly set up at Universal based on a detailed outline conceived by the director and writer.
Aronofsky had been linked to a Paramount-based take on Lone Wolf and Cub, a planned live-action adaptation of Kazuo Koike's graphic novel, but that seems to have fallen apart due to rights issues. He's also said he has a bible-inspired epic in development based on a poem he wrote in seventh grade. Stay tuned!
