Arrested Development

On the movie vs. seasons debate, i'm sure we can all agree that more Bluths is better. But since the show is no longer tied to network tv and the ancient ratings system, the possibilities are endless.

Why not 3 new seasons of 13 episodes each and then a 90 minute movie available exclusively on Netflix? The show is over the top but nothing about the comedy lends itself to the theater experience. For instance, a bad example: Jackass. Something about seeing that huge naked woman jump on Wee-man on the big screen with a theater full of people made it much funnier. AD's comedy is the subtlety and cleverness and although it might be fun to watch with a theater full of fans, I can't see it translating well to the movie screen. Besides, ticket prices are redonk these days.

Netflix has a great opportunity to finally challenge network tv if they play it smart and i think the AD guys know that. But by sweet deity, 2013 is looking like it will kick ass.

Take a good look. :oldrazz:

Could there be more than 10 episodes? Our initial order is for 10, but the beauty of Netflix is that we theoretically have an opportunity to provide more material for them. We're definitely shooting some special material just for them. But their whole outlook completely mirrors the ambitions of this show.

Is there pressure to meet expectations? We all went back into this because of the devotion of the fans, and a desire to bring some fun to them — and to ourselves. It definitely did start out being somewhat daunting, but I think for all of us we just got back into the groove. Oh, and we have this new JarJar Bluth character so there's no way anyone will be disappointed.

Keck's Exclusives: Liza Minnelli Gets Arrested!

Guess who just got Arrested? The wonderfully kooky Liza Minnelli has landed in L.A. to shoot scenes for Netflix's limited revival of the equally kooky 2003-06 Fox sitcom, Arrested Development.

Minnelli will reprise her role as Lucille Austero, a character who made several appearances as the older girlfriend of socially awkward Bluth son Buster (Tony Hale). The wobbly character, who suffered from debilitating vertigo, shared the same name as Bluth matriarch, Lucille (Jessica Walter). The two Lucilles were often at odds.

Since Arrested ended, Minnelli has made limited TV appearances with roles on Drop Dead Diva and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Last season she was booked to appear on an episode of Hot in Cleveland, but was sidelined by an ankle injury.

Netflix is scheduled to release its new batch of Arrested episodes (anywhere from 10 -13) in 2013, and a feature film version is also in development. The entire original cast is participating.

Is this something we can do? Is that something society will allow?

I've mentioned this already but AD is still way too niche to warrant a wide release film. It's not sex and the city were talking about.

If they could release an Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie in theaters, they could definitely do Arrested Development.

Animation is so much cheaper than live-action. Especially the hunger force variety of animation.

He was actually in all the episodes.

In disguise.

It feels like so many more though. And oh man! Bland got hot!
