Arrow ARROW Producers Had "Big Plans" For 'Harley Quinn' Before SUICIDE SQUAD

Harley Quinn is a Suicide Squad member. It's unfair to complain that they're making it Batman just because it has them. I don't particularly recall SS being a Batman group. It has Captain Boomarang in it and I don't think people think of it as a Flash group.

I don't think anyone would have minded in the first place had they not used so many Batman tropes already. As a result, anything Batman-related they bring up now only adds fuel fo the fire.

So you're using set videos to compare Leto's Joker to fricking Vertigo? yup totally objective reasoning there buddy.

Well you have your opinion that the show would have done a bad job adapting Harley Quinn because the writers suck and I have my opinion based on what I've seen so far that version of the Joker will suck.

Question though if Arrow sucks so bad, why do you watch it and why are you posting on an Arrow forum? Are you one of those troll viewers who watches the show just to stay up to date to come to boards and troll about the show?

Possibly, but I feel the answer was with regards to the past season given how things played out and the actors wouldn't normally know the full plan of an upcoming season at this point.

Well Willa Holland could have just asked the producers about it because she had been getting asked by fans and then they told her that they had plans for her but DC shot it down.

But it's kind of easy to figure that Harley Quinn would have been introduced fully this season in the Suicide Squad episode and then had more of major role in Season 4.

Low hanging fruit for the people that want to complain about this being a Batman rip off just because it is the thing to do. It just shows they are out of the loop. DC in recent years has made strides to make Harley Quinn her own character and not just some Joker appendage.

Just like people saying Deadshot is a Batman character. Yes he debuted in Batman but he is far from a Batman rogue.

When you really think about it Arrow hasn't had that many strict Batman characters.

So many Batman tropes? Oh come on. Putting aside the tone, outside of this season's storyline what Batman tropes has this show done?

Keep in mind not to use anything that was already in the Green Arrow comics.

I hope that's a rhetorical question.

I like Arrow and I'm not trying to bash it, but the first season definitely had lines and moments that were very Nolan Batman. The second season they made Brother Blood look like Nolan's Scarecrow and had a imposter Arrow army.

I think it's more reflective of the fact that Batman fights against lots of DC's villains. And that writers like to use Batman as the launchpad for new antagonists.

What they did with Ra's is a blatant Batman ripoff, easily the biggest in the whole show. They didn't even bother to give him a different dynamic (copied the whole "I want you as my successor" aspect). Might as well rename that show to "we couldn't afford Batman" at that point. Not to mention the number of blatant Batman villain knockoffs (Scarecrow primarily being knocked off twice).

FTR, all of it would have been more acceptable had the writers done justice to the few great villains GA has. Which other than Merlyn and Clock King (who was underused), they haven't. They even took GA villains like Vertigo and made them knockoffs of other Batman villains.

This is coming from someone who was a fan of the first two seasons.

It's essentially WB fearing audiences will get confused over which version belongs in which universe and that alienating potential viewers, as if most people wouldn't be able to figure it out or do a quick google search in worse case scenario. They did the same thing in the 2000's with the bat-embargo, but now they seem to be doing it to all of their properties.

It's basically WB saying "we're all idiots".

They also possibly don't want to risk over exposing their characters. Why pay $13 when you can see the same characters on TV?

My opinion is based on fact and I watch Arrow because I'm a fan of Green Arrow much as it would shock you to know.

Harley can be her own character just like Nightwing is his own character, hell Robin is his own character,Batgirl is her own character too, that means nothing.

Deadshot didn't just debut in a Batman book,he and Batman have a very deep and very unique relationship just like Batman has a relationship with Joker and Ra's.

Using Batman tropes wouldn't be an issue if they used GA tropes and their own creativity to balance it.
What they did to Vertigo,Roy and Komodo is unforgivable, how can any Green Arrow fan just sit there and pretend it's not a big deal. These characters are a big deal, they deserve justice but nope Arrow has big plans for a character who has nothing to do with Green Arrow.

So apparently the movie Harley Quinn has face tattoos

The difference here is that people saying season 3 sucked actually SAW something that made them draw that conclusion. A few photos and some bootleg footage is an entirely different thing than an entire season of material. Maybe Leto's Joker will suck, I don't know, but until we see some ACTUAL footage, I don't think it's fair to declare it a failure. On the other hand, with Arrow, I watched every episode this season, hoping it would get better and the stupidity just increased week to week. And yeah, opinions, opinions, blah blah blah, but again, after watching an entire season, I feel like I can make a pretty good assessment of how good or bad season 3 is.

Regarding your other comment... I think most of us are being so critical because we DID like the first two seasons of this show and it was kind of a shock to see all the good will they'd built up get flushed down the toilet. Season 3 had a few good points (Nyssa is always awesome, for example) but overall it was a mess and didn't come close to its predecessors in terms of quality.

It's a bummer they removed Quinn (probably at the behest of the Squad film director.) And Deadshot. Whatever.
