Oh no. I kind of hate when developers brag about stuff like that. It means lots of filler.

Honestly a good game that lasts twenty hours is better than a bland one that lasts 100

It depends on content though.

I liked Valhalla's animus glitches platformer side quests, and I wish they were more despite the game being bloated.

Odyssey, is still the longest AC game for me based on my files and it is a good game. Ideally, if there's a huge game map, I would want to spent there at least one hundred hours and just get fully immersed into the world and finish every single thing.

Valhalla's problem was their England looks very dire, Norway/Vinland are pretty empty and the side quests/story aren't really that good.

I don't like the possibility of Tencent having a say on Assassin's Creed. But I guess that's better than Ubisoft just collapsing to the ground.

Just in case anyone here hasn't heard Yasuke's scream whenever he does a Leap of Faith. :funny:

Metacritic: 82 (73 reviews)

That number is pretty good considering all things Ubisoft in the last few years. I think with the AC formula, it is just going to be hard to score in the high 80s and 90s. I think the writing/story/over all gameplay would have to be as exceptional as RDR2/GTA V to score within those numbers, and I just don't think Ubisoft excels very well in story telling. I can't wait to play this game eventually. Japan looks great, and two playable characters add an extra layer to the gameplay.

Next game pitch: Assassin's Creed Red. Assassin's Creed during the Red Revolution in Russia.

Remember when there was supposed to be like a precursor invasion and Desmond Miles heralded an invasion by Juneau which never got properly resolved in-game?

The present day storyline is confusing. Lots of loose ends and unanswered questions. Is there even a present day segment in Shadows?

I more or less gave up on this franchise when they abandoned the present day storyline. There's nothing coherent about the narrative in these games anymore, it's not building towards anything or even attempting a dramatically satisfying story individually. I'm also disappointed that they made stealth more or less impossible, and instead adopted an RPG, combat focused gameplay loop.

Odyssey has been the only entry I've moderately enjoyed in the last decade (more for Kassandra's story than the gameplay). I didn't even finish Valhalla, despite owning it, and I only played Mirage for perhaps thirty minutes before dropping it.

I'm somewhat interested in Shadows, especially with the destructible environments and RTGI on Pro, but I haven't paid full price for an AC game since Black Flag. Hopefully it'll have a good Black Friday price later this year

To answer my question, not really. :meh:

I thought Basim would have been a no brainer after
Valhalla and Mirage.
