There was another thread here some time ago. I think it was about an adaption of a book about Atlantis.
But what if there would be another film, sort of adventure, about some scientists that discover the lost continent? Why haven't it even been done yet?
I don't count the animated flic from the 90s. I want a real sci fi blockbuster, live action.
It has to be more serious than Josh Hutcherson's two "Journey" films, though.

What do you think of it?
CGI is real good today, and it can be done.
Just add some noticeable actors to the project. I wouldn't mind mostly brits or aussies. Eric Bana, Clive Owen, Hugo Weaving, David Wenham, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Emily Browning, Dakota Blue Richards, Karl Urban, Jeremy Northam, Jason Isaacs, Viggo Mortensen, Peter Stormare, Max von Sydow, Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Ioan Gruffudd, Freddie Highmore, Liam Aiken etc are names I can imagine in a project like this. Just pick some of them!
The story needs both younger and older characters, as well as some actual Atlantis ones. The inhabitants did never die, but they developped a futuristic high tech city.

I would have liked it if they made an Indiana Jones film involving Atlantis, but it's far too late for that now. I wouldn't be opposed a movie about Atlantis, but it would really have to distance itself from the Disney movie.

Why is it too late for Indiana Jones to find the lost continent? Because of the game?

Actually, I think it will be a good thing if they come up with some new heroic guy, a completely new character. He can be either a scientist, or an adventurer. Perhaps played by David Wenham or Jason Isaacs :)
Maybe the story should tie in with egyptian mythology. It all depends on the upcoming Coster-Waldau film, though, if it gets successful or not. But wouldn't it be cool if there are vague hints that the gods actually were from Atlantis, and arrived in in Egypt after their own country was destroyed, helping the natives build the pyramids etc?

If nothing else, we can hold out hope for a Namor or Aquaman film.

Harrison Ford said he's up for a fifth movie although he said nothing of a story so anything's still possible.

I'm down for a fifth movie too. It'd be awesome if we get a great one to solidify an awesome series.

And what about that a non-Indy Atlantis film? :)
Who should direct?

Atlantis is so broad a topic. What version of it would you do?

Above water in the past or modern day Atlantis? With prehistoric or advanced technology?
Under water? Are they mer-people or do they have a giant air-dome?
What would be the story behind it? Why had it not been discovered before now if it's set in the modern era?

You can take this in a lot of directions.

The discovery of a lost empire

Above water in the past or modern day Atlantis?

Modern day, or maybe a Victorian England setting would suit it more.
There can also be flashbacks from the time it was an actual island

With prehistoric or advanced technology?

Like Masters of the Universe, high tech in an ancient world

Are they mer-people or do they have a giant air-dome?

Both, They can have a human body like us, but also be able to go outside their "dome" and swim like other sea creatures

What would be the story behind it?
Why had it not been discovered before now if it's set in the modern era?

The story begins with a pre-historic map that shows the location of Atlantis. It could perhaps even be in the Bermuda Triangle
They have an energy shield that blocks out radio waves and such.

These are just my suggestions.

while it was animated it definitelly felt like a Hollywood blockbuster

First God of Egypt and now this, anybody else wants to give an idea to Hollywood?

Its not like we are inundated with films about either...

the disney atlanstis movie looked like a combination of stargate, john carter and Avatar(cameron).

they will need to find a very unique look for this movie.

I wasn't trying to be negative, i was just asking if anybody else wanted to give to Hollywood original ideas for films :woot:

Would actualy like to see this film resurrected in live-action

Take the core idea and change whatever is too similar to Stargate, probably even the plot twist and what the villain wants, since it's pretty boring and cliche. Otherwise it's a pretty strong premise for an action adventure, with Disney nowadays i doubt it would be another flop, unless they exagerated on the costs like what happened with John Carter and Lone Ranger.
