Avengers: Doomsday General News & Discussion Thread

The 3rd trailer
is mostly same old, same old until we finally get to CYCLOPS! And to think I will have only needed to wait 26 years to see him look this awesome on screen!

I've watched the leaked teaser like 10 times already and I can't imagine how many times I'm going to watch the official HD version.

Absolute perfection and one thing I am really excited about with this movie is Marsden's Cyclops finally getting the shine he deserves.

Also, it looks like we are also getting comic accurate Sentinels in this which is another HUGE plus IMO. I liked the movie but I was one of the few people who was really disappointed with what we got in DOFP.

I can't deny the marketing seems to be paying off in spades. It's getting significant traction online.

I am still way more invested in what can come after all this, but I am actually feeling some excitement again for the next few years..

if this little teaser is increasing the hype (in low quality).... wait for the first full teaser trailer with most heroes and X-Men in all their glory.... the hype will explode.
Next year marketing machine will be huge

These teasers are doing nothing for me. They're all the same. Somber music, epic sounding dialogue from any generic blockbuster an AI can generate, and shot of actors I like doing nothing interesting, and then a countdown timer. That may be enough for some people. But these are not changing my opinion. This is still an empty Reddit Polls movie like Rise of Skywalker was IMO

I hope next saga they'll make some smaller scale Avengers movie focusing on... The Avengers and ther interpersonal relationships.

Their movies now are just these massive crossovers involving 100 characters.
That's one of the reasons why Age of Ultron is a favorite of mine. It's about the main Avengers from start to finish. Lots of great interactions and different pairings. We get to chill out with them for a bit. Harshly underrated.

Agreed. We sorely are overdue for one. That's what Secret Invasion should have been.

I was literally in the womb, when Days of Future Past came out and James Cyclops Marsden was there for like 5 seconds and it was the joyest moment ever and to think the king of the X-Men is back to fight against the Avengers and those mcu people ugh. Words are not enough to express my X-ticipation!

The problem with Age Of Ultron is that Avengers is the better movie, and Infinity War and Endgame are these massive events that stuck the landing. So Age Of Ultron is this unloved middle child with a terrible design for Ultron and a creative clash with the director and the studio over the middle portion of the movie.

Once you get past swapping Pym for Stark, AoU has a good enough enough story framework (and good casting) but it really needed a heavy rewrite. And a better director.

Age of Ultron is the worst Avengers movie. I never liked Joss Whedon's direction/style.

Agreed; the X-Men teaser moved the needle the most for me but just a shot of a comic-accurate costume isn't going to make or break this film. To your point, Cyclops looks like all those runway AI videos I see where the original actors are in their comic costumes. Very cool but, again, I'm more interested in the story than what they're dressed in.

And I'm dreading yet another X-Men movie with the Fox actors where we have to watch them all die again...Though, better to watch them die, I suppose, rather than just hearing about their off-screen deaths. We've been killing the X-Men since 2014 with DOFP, then Logan, then again in D&W.

Crossing my fingers and toes that the X-Men universe explored in DD is actually the reset 2023 timeline from DOFP. At least draw some connection to the original franchise beyond just the actors. That's one thing that really bothered me about D&W-- here's Hugh Jackman's long-awaited return to Wolverine, but it's not any version of Logan audiences have seen him portray in the past 9 X-Men films he's appeared in over the past two decades. And all the X-Men are dead. Again. But don't worry; Wolverine's wearing a blue & yellow costume and has a CGI mask for 5 minutes towards the end so you can clap and post theater reactions on YouTube.

The X-Men are definitely the highlight for me, no doubt about it. X marks the spot! :xmen:
