The stage act appeared in one feature film, “Soup to Nuts”, for Fox in 1930. Shemp left the act in 1932 for a solo career. His younger brother Curly joined the act. This group appeared in a series of shorts and features for MGM in 1933 and 1934.
Moe, Larry and Curly left Healy in 1934 and went to Columbia. There they did a series of 190 shorts. Shemp replaced an ailing Curly in 1946. Joe Besser replaced Shemp in 1955 and did the last 16 of the shorts. Their last contract with Columbia ended on December 31, 1957.
Moe, Larry and Joe DeRita (as Curly Joe) did a series of feature films between 1959 and 1970.
