Bad news for SumofGod or Wilhelm if they had plans to become university professors

Nope. Most students have formulated their opinions already by that time.

No, I disagree.

People are always changing their opinion on a topic, as they become older and more informed.

To say that they're set for life is incorrect.

Maybe they're just more intelligent.:o

Unlikely.

Your viewpoint is more affected by how you think people are best able to achieve their potential than whether or not your IQ is 150.

That's bull****. Those profs are entitled to their opinions.

gotta agreee with Hooligan32. The professors can say what they want and anyone with some common sense can agree or disagree depending on what they belive.

Which is why university educated students tend to be left of centre.

There is obviously no correlation between left of centre professors and left of centre students.

corrolation. they are smart enough to do a degree. ever think that where you place the center could be incorrect. the word professional comes from professor.

Except when they're using their opinions to sway the students.

:down :(

"sway"?

how about challenge? how about not spoonfeeding the same tripe over and over and over? what- university professors are only supposed to "reinforce" already received beliefs? is that what "schooling" is to you?

thats a great educational system you're supporting, jonty. brainwashing- long term. good job.

jonty is brain washed long term the best long term brain washing involves brain washing one brain to brain wash others. i don't like the term brain wash either. makes it sound like you would come out clean. you do come out clean but then they dirty you up all over again.

Well education is not really about telling children an opinion or viewpoint. I, frankly, have never taken a government class where we discussed "why it was Osama Bin Laden vs [Insert other theory here]". In fact I have yet to have a Sept 11th discussion at all, period. So, I agree. It is no more the right of a political science professor to share why he thinks 9/11 was "an inside job" than for a religion professor to share why he/she believes in God. In fact my best Professors have all refused to answer questions regarding political affliations, religious views and opinions. It is not only tainting the education but also it gives the students an easy A since they can simply take the professors side and not worry about proving their own.

Not quite. People are affected by the environment they are in, it can't be helped. Most people who go to university tends towards left-wing, but then when they're working, they tend to move right-ward.
It's called nature

Kids tend to be more "liberal" than adults, who tend to be more "conservvative"

Used those words for lack of better words
