Based on Previous movies..... Tell why or why not you think Micheal Bay would be the best/worst director for Transformers...

I just watched The Island, it was a really cool take on the whole THX/Logans Run genre, he handle the action scenes masterfully.

THe style was also vey good, and it looked sleek.

Coming of a sci-fi movie like this I think Bay might do a good job.

The only thing is that Bay has not had a movie that you could feel the magic in it like how Lucas and Speilburgs early films were.

The Island turned out to be really good, give it a chance.

dreamworks and spileberg have his back this time..

The Island was pretty good. But part of that may be because I saw it on DVD on my nice system. I might have felt somewhat different if I saw it in the theaters. It was well-written and well-directed......

But, no. Bay has not reached Cameron,Spielberg, or Lucas status... no matter how much he lies to himself.

I find the "A Michael Bay Film" tagline hilareous. You don't see "A Sam Raimi Film" even though Raimi has made a movies with HUGE followings (Darkman, Evil Dead... not to mention Leonardo DiCaprios's the Quick and The Dead... A Perfect Plan..... not to mention all the Xena zealots that used to exist).... and of course Spidey 1&2.

Quite the contrary. Bay's are some of the most derided movies ever. Just watch last week's Entourage to catch a glimpse of "general opinion" of Bay.

"A Michael Bay Film"
It's almost a joke.

i didnt like the flychase scene..........horrible!

it had its great moments though......

Yeah Bay's films are good but they feel DRY and they don't have the magic like other filmmakers films do.

Robert Zemeckis has the magic but he bailed out for some reason.

i agree bay is a bit dry with the action...... but he makes it look like it looks good.lol

I havent seen The Island, But the way he did the action scenes in Pearl Harbor were mind blowing, I really hope to see that level of realistic action in Transformers, Though be it in a present time of course, Heh.

Seriously!!! What happened to that guy? He was possibly the best next to Spielberg.
Oh, I know.... Castaway happened. I hated that movie.

P.S.
Still, I think Zemekis' "What Lies Beneath" is one of the best "classic" (i.e. not Japanese and not BSDM) horror movies to come out in a very long time.

It looked good to me too. But lots of WWII afficionados laughed at the way the fighter planes performed. It was just plain unrealistic... and cartoony.

Although I didn't like The Island, Pearl Harbor and some bits of Armaggeddon there isn't one movie by Michael Bay that I hated. I think that it depends on the script. If it's a cheesy script like Pearl Harbor or Armaggeddon (mostly whenever Steve Buscemi or Peter Stormare weren't on it) it's gonna end up as an incredibly cheezy movie. Now if it kicks ass...well you'll see.

But I DO find the "A Michael Bay Film" thing hilarious.

i dont mind it on transformers.....

BUT WITH TEXAS CHAINSAW i hate that he has anything to do with it!:o

Lets not forget, Pearl Harbor had one of the most memorable shots, The tracking shot of a bomb as it hits its target, I would expect Transformers have some kind of shot that a lot of people will remember.

You've gone up a notch in my book, xw2.

And, yes, Bay is "good." He's not the best... but, there are far far worse. At least he can make lame scripts at least watchable and fun.

And, hopefully Lord S will come in at the end of production Ninja Style and save the movie....

just like he did with Poltergeist. :)

I dont judge directors on past work. You'll never know when a good director slumps and a bad director hits one out of the park. Did anyone know while watching Duel that Spielburg was gonna be one of the best directors in history?????? How many people are slamming Lucas for the Prequels yet Star Wars will always be know as the best Sci-fi movie ever?????
Who knew who Peter Jackson was before he made the LOTR films and how many people were disappointed with Kong??????

Bay is a good choice for this,he would have been my choice outside of Cameron,Spielberg and Scott, ive enjoyed all his movies and his action is some of the best out there especially when it comes to big scale
I hope he can get some of the Rock's drama in there as opposed to the empty eye candy of the Bad Boys movies

Bay's directing style should be perfect for this movie though. Everything is BIG and very explosive...literally. He's the perfect summer popcorn flick movie and I'm sure the movie will deliver in that aspect.

I think the only thing anybody is really worried about is if he will deliver on the character aspect or if he will take the cop out and make it a human movie...I will create a Boycott Michael Bay's Transformers Movie webpage if I found out before the release date that this is so. I will promote it like crazy and will try to promote a general consensus of hate toward what would be TINO if the movie is mostly viewed from a human perspective.

I DO NOT WANT, "AHHHH...watch out for the falling debris from the scary robots *whole movie*."

I tend to agree. Look at Joel Schumacher... his resume was impeccable before he destroyed Batman. He made a ton of top-notch movies (Lost Boys, Flatliners, A Time to Kill, Falling Down, etc). I remember thinking he would be the guy to finally make a true "real" Batman movie. Sadly, it didn't happen.

Thats cause he was trying to make the movies in the same style that Tim Burton did.

I guess thats where his versions failed, People were expecting the movies to be dark in the same style of the first two Tim Burton directed Batman movies.
