The Dark Knight Batman should be like 24

Well, uh.....wow. that was, uh, wow.

Anyways, I dunno.....24 has alot of signature stuff going with it. The countdown clock, the panel camera shots.

But, hey....the dramatic intense moments, yeah....if it fits I say it'd be nice. But, last thing we need is some trolling Spidey fan running around with "24 wannabe."

LOL, I thought the same thing when I read the title of the thread :woot: It's a bit misleading, alright.

24 is a great show (though I stopped watching it after Season 3), but it really doesn't have any elements that I could see fitting in a Batman movie.

24 is a great show. I've seen all Seasons but , i agrre with ANTHONYNASTI it would not give elements, which you could use for Batman.

Bauer uses alot of help though. He couldn't do half the stuff he does without a constant uplink to CTU. Batman gets the job done by himself. Not to slight Bauer. Bauer is still the man.

24 is the best show EVER on television (the only competitor is Battlestar Galactica), and yes, Jack Bauer is very much like Batman, but nevertheless they are different properties that must be treated differently.

On a related note, Sutherland should play Dent.

24 is my favorite show.
Batman is my favorite superhero.

This is now my favorite thread.

The earliest issues of the Batman comic depicted a Batman that carries a pistol and I believe he also actually killed a villian in one of these early Bob Kane issues.

I've got a reprint of that issue somewhere. He had a pistol in a holster strapped to his chest. If I remember correctly. But he definitely packed heat.

i belive jack bauer resembles batman in how dark and vigilant he is, and i understand while 24 captures that essence more than begins, you gotta realise weve had 5 24 hour seasons of that show, while all nolan has has is 2 hours to show us the bat, besides jack is a killer, bats shows compassion, kief would make a good bat if he was younger...in fact i want kiefer in a batman movie as ANYONE!

Never watch the show.

I say, no.

ROTFLMAO. When I'm channel-surfing, I always know that it's 24 because of the shaky and fast camera work. That's something I definitely noticed in BB too, but it's not as shaky per se. The camera is always moving though, and that's one thing I liked which kept the suspense up.

should there even be a countdown at the end of every cliffhanger scene and then a cut to commercial?

Actually killed a villian my ass--Golden Age Batman had a body count that would make The Punisher green with envy. :o

Eh, with Begins he was still a bit lax in it. With killing...well, we all know the end. As with guns, watch the fight with Batman against the thugs in Arkham before facing Scarecrow, he actually takes a thugs hand carrying a gun, and shot it, hitting another guy in the knee. It doesn't matter if it was in someone else hands, Batman had a gun fired at another person.

I don't have a problem with it--hell, I always felt that Batman's a character that should be in the gray area between hero and anti-hero...:o

Still, he used a gun.
Not sure how he was gonna subdue the other thug without using the gun. Still thought it was pretty badass - Bats probably shoots him the toe, just enough for him to trip, and then he drags the thug off into the air. Wheee!

I think you guys are misinterpeting me--I don't have a problem with him using a gun in that manner. To me, he should be a guy that is constantly close to crossing his own lines. He should be a man who will break bones to keep a criminal down or in interrogating someone to find the big foe.

That's what I hope we get to see more of, and with a title like "The DARK KNIGHT," I think that's what we'll get to see more of, the character that walks the thin line between hero and anti-hero.

why do people try to shoehorn batman into the same category the likes of jack bauer, the punisher, etc?
Because in this case, they have a lot of similar elements, that I feel was executed better on 24.

You misunderstand me. I don't mean it should become a carbon copy of 24. I don't think 24's style would work for Batman at all. No clocks, no zooms, none of that.

I am talking about its atmosphere and tone. The kind of situations Jack gets in. Every episode Jack is breaking into buildings, lurking around in shadows, on rooftops, involved in carchases, doing surveilence on people, searching for information, interrogating people.

And my point is that A LOT of it is very Batman like, and it would be awesome to see a Batman movie with a similar atmosphere.

Hey I think they don't understand what your trying to get at. I think I do though. I watch 24 and I laugh sometimes because I think Jack is a gun-slinging Batman. Keifer is so unbelievably awesome in that show! If Keifer was taller and had Bale's build, you could probably fool me he was Batman, he DOES have a great grisly voice. Sometimes I don't know who is a little loonier, Batman or Jack Bauer...hahah. But yeah the way Jack is quick and constantly threatening hostiles and performing interrogations is awesome. "WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR!!!!!!????" I know Batman doesn't like guns, but it would be nice to see him start to break a guy's knee just to get him to talk. He needs to sucker punch a guy and make his nosebleed to get him to confess;) I think the jump to Jack Bauer-ish levels is quite a long one, but I'd like to see a gradual progression in the way Batman deals with getting answers from thugs in TDK. The thing is Jack has great dialogue because he's constantly communicating with CTU, Batman's pretty much working in the dark, but yeah those interrogation tactics should be more intense, just enough to make you feel uncomfortable if he's crossing the line or not. I could hear Batman now, "HOLSTER YOUR WEAPON!!!!" :batman:
Thank you, finally!

24 is a died out show. They should have never made it past season 2. After that its pretty much garbage and Keifer should not be compared to batman in any way, shape or form unless if he's cast as a villain.
