It's a great book and even some what a prelude to Knightfall.
Garcia Lopez's art is great!

I liked it, very good story and when the prices went up during the whole Bane/Knightfall saga I was glad I had picked them up when they first came out.

i love stories set in batman's early career. this isn't near the likes of year one and so on, but it's a fun read. i think it's a great concept. despite being a terrible thought, batman is human. the comic explores that well.

Oh good.. for a second, I thought it was a Marvel/DC crossover.. with.. you know what character *cringes*

I thought it was great until
he got to that island and started fighting a shark
.

lol at
Bruce showing his face(well, partially) for the first time in months and looking like he has just got through his Jim Morrison phase.

edit: but, yeah, it's a good idea, and has some great stuff in it, I think you will enjoy it.

i didn't like that either. pretty cringe-worthy. the third act isn't up to scratch, but the set up and concept is good enough to warrant a purchase.

Hey at least he didn't carry any Bat-shark spray repellant.

Yeah, I already said that I think he'd enjoy it, the concept is great, so is the artwork.

Mace: Yeah, the adult Bat-man way to handle those type of situations is to pop shark repellent steroids.

I remember when I had just bought the issue when Batman is on the cover fighting that shark, a friend of mine was chastising me for being into comics, and asking why I didn't read more books. I said to him that comics were getting more mature and 'weren't just for kids anymore'(as the tagline of the day stressed). So he pointed straight at that cover of Batman fighting a shark and I was kind of at a loss for a defence lol.

Batman becoming a junkie wasn't convincing at all :awesome:

*btw some spoilers* in this response.

If he was chasing a high like this guy=:awesome:, I would say it was out of the bounds of the character. But, the way it was done, that he felt there were certain things that were just beyond his reach when it came to his mission, and a course of drugs would help him overcome those limitations, was convincing enough for me.
He didn't know they were going to be so addictive, and
that the doc was evil and had an agenda.
His naivety was possibly unconvincing, when it came to becoming addicted. But then again, Batman has his ego , and he probably thought he could handle taking them now and again in emergencies. Like many intelligent people who have never experienced drugs before, he underestimated what addiction truly is.

edit: That's the thing, the story would have been more interesting, and mature, if
the Doc had not been evil and had his agenda. But, they had to have the supervillan behind the drug of course, whereas if it had just been about Batman at war with himself and his addiction, the story could have been a stone(d) cold classic from beginning to end.
