Batman: Year 100

Batman: Year 100 was amazing, while others seemed to have enjoyed the story I thought the art was beautiful and fluid. Do yourself a favor and pick up 100% also by Paul Pope, that is, if you enjoy B:Y100
100% was pretty kick ass, i love popes artwork aswell(y)

Just to toss this out there....was I the only one confused about the ending......I mean, I kinda had a WTF moment there....
i was confused, but i read it a second time and the conclusion i made was that in batmans world(gotham city) bruce wayne is immortal, he doesn't age while other characters (gordan) get older, i liked the ending though,i thought it added another dimension to the batman character and mythos.

I was going to get it, but it was like £3.65 an issue so I'll wait for the trade.

I loved how the he was so practical.

I know I know....some fans hate how the realsim and practicality can limit stuff, but when you look at how it's done here....it can expand the story and the character even more. It was awesome.

And, interesting takes on the Batman costume too.....

It took me about an issue or two to get used to his art.....but once I did, I loved it. Very gritty, and he's great at action scenes.

Well, I kinda caught that.....I just didn't understand how it all fits into his actual identity. I mean.....is it really Bruce? Does that mean he finally hit up the Lazerus Pits? Or is it his son? Is it just a new guy Bruce himself chose? I was kinda lost on that.....maybe I should re-read it to see if I missed something....

i think maybe its down to personal interpertation, i think pope wanted to give the reader something to chew on after they had finished it:cwink:
my personal belief is that batman can never die, wheter it is actualy the bruce wayne im not sure, maybe he'll do a sequel to year 100 to answer that question.

Yeah, I think a sequel needs to happen. More than welcome, I think.

a sequel would be a good reason to clarify thngs but iwas thinking that a prequel would be much more interesting

That's what I racked it up to as well. Interpret it as you will. Most comic fans want to be force fed endings, I love when things end like that and you can have your own ending for the story.

i think the costume was a direct homage to the original costume that batman used to wear in his early days, i liked the fact that he bought it back aswell, it shows he has respect for batmans history, i also like the way in which he showed batmans animalistic side i nsome of the panels, escpecially when he has to go and retrieve the tooth

The way I understood it was that the Batman mantle was simply passed down, so he could have existed since the 1930's, but as several different people. (The Kane Batman would be one guy, Miller's Batman another.)

I actually took it like it actually was Bruce himself.

Hmm....interesting.

Well, there was no white hair that the Pits leave from using it.

But, the Pits are not the only way Bruce could keep his youth.
