Warners and Legendary -- which splits all profits with the studio down the middle -- are counting on strong home entertainment sales to make up for slower-than-expected box office. (WB's 2005 "Batman Begins," whose B.O. was comparable to that of "Superman," earned $167 million in DVD sales, according to estimates by Variety sister pub Video Business.) Then there are the various TV windows.

At the end of 05' it was at 125m, that means it added over 40m in 06' which would put it's total dvd sales up to around 8.5m

means it has great wom.

fantasti four sold 90% of its sales in one day, while batman soldabout 5%

Since that was 5 1/2 years ago, it's most likely added millions in revenue to it ever since.

Does anyone know if records for the amount currently sold is reflected on any website? The-numbers.com doesn't keep track of films released from mid 2005 and earlier.

Most stores have BB at very low sales prices even for the blueray, ive seen it cost $5.00 to even $7.00 quite a bit. Though I have to admit for how much of a newer made film it is BB dosent have the best hi def transfer, especially when compared to TDK.

Dark Knight made a ton on the DVD and Blu-Ray sales, too.

BB's sales probably skyrocketed on DVD and Blu-Ray once TDK came out. So, if you factor in 2008, BB probably sold a gajillion. Now in 2012, with Rises coming out, BB and TDK will continue selling a lot.

WORD!! But ahhhhhhhhhhh.. it so good watching BB in Bluray!

Yeah, TDK looks a lot more crisp on blu-ray.

They always promote the previous movies from a franchise when a new sequel is due out.

Update:

For the week of June 10th, Batman Begins has made the top 30 DVD sales and top 10 Blu-ray sales (TDK also made the top 10 blu-ray).

I got the Blu-Ray for $7.50 on Black Friday last year, which is a bit steep these days, but worth it for that film.

Aren't the transfer issues due to the fact that it's effectively a straight rip from the HD-DVD?

$7.50 is steep for a blu ray? Sounds cheap to me since it's HD.

Considering it's older and I'd bought The Dark Knight and Inception earlier that night for $5 a piece, it seemed a little steep, but still a steal.

It's funny when I hear some posters say how Batman Begins has been forgotten compared to TDK and TDKR, considering that BB has gone neck and neck with TDK as far as recent DVD/Blu-ray sales are concerned.
