I'd hate to be a political candidate, just because I say **** all the time and if some ****er came up to me and tried to question me about my use of ****, I'd shove my ****ing foot up their ass :o

You forgot Palin coming out to talk with advisors in her hotel room with only a towel on ("You can speak with Todd for a little." :funny:) and Hilary downing shots with McCain. :woot:

Man, these people are so interesting after the uber-PC campaigns are over.

And Obama is only cooler in my eyes after that f-bomb.

I think that is an...interesting mental image to have. :o

These two things cracked me up the most:

An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

President Elect Obama said:
So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

:funny:

You know what cracks me up about that Obama quote... even when he's being candid, swearing, and letting his true thoughts slip out, he still makes PERFECT SENSE. even when he's losing control, he's in control.

i would LOVE to see more of this stuff revealed....it almost makes the candidates REAL people.

^ go back to the URL I posted and look at the menu bar, "chapter 1" and "chapter 2" gives tons of details on the primary season of Obama, Hillary, and McCain campaigns. Turns out this stuff was just a highlights of what was going to be in the more detailed article. I liked these enough that I'm gonna check out Newsweek tomorrow (I think thats when it hits newsstands) to get the full story.

I actually think it makes him look like a tremendous hypocrite. Obama claims to support the Green Movement, but only to the extent of telling others to do it, but not bothering himself?

I didn't interpret it that way at all. His stance was that he didn't see the point in convincing the public he solve global warming just saying he changed all his light bulbs. "Yeah, I changed all my light bulbs I'm gonna save the world now woohoo!"

That's why he mentions it has to be "collective."

Frankly, I think the way we interpret these statements says more about us than it does the candidates. :oldrazz:

I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' OMFG that's brilliant! I think I found my new sig haha.

disagree. hes saying that he alone cant change the environment...EVERYONES got to do it, him included

That's a... very creative interpretation.

This is an enormous 7 part story, the 6 pages there are the 1st part. I find it extremely interesting, especially the stuff from Hillarys campaign in the spring. not surprised she wasnt totally into it at the begining, but I didnt realize her and Bill dont live together (???)

Exactly. It means that changing the light bulbs isn't enough. We're going to have to do a lot more.

That Obama quote is hilarious. Love it!

can you ellaborate on what it said?

I agree. Matt, I think you're reaching on that big time. It came across to me that Obama was trying to say that he CAN'T do it on his own. It's going to take everyone. So when the press asks him what he's PERSONALLY done, it comes across rather silly.

Collective efforts start with everyone doing their part. Isn't that what this whole Green campaign that Obama has supported about? That changing your type of lightbulbs or driving a hybrid actually can make a difference? How exactly do we accomplish something collectively if one of the biggest proponents isn't willing to start with doing it himself? Do we pass laws that say if you have more than two lights on, you get fined? Do we dump more money into alternative energies that will not be available until 2040. The green movement starts now by individuals doing little things and making little sacrifices and Obama basically laughed off that notion (which he has endorsed)

I think the point Obama was try to make is that it doesn't matter what he does indivually but what we do as a counrty. I think he's saying, "I change my lightbulbs. I'm doing my part. But unless everyone else does their's it wont matter.". I don't think he in any way "laughed off the notion".

You assume he's NOT engaging in said activity. I think his point with that comment was that he wouldn't run around bragging about what he's doing as if his effort is more important than someone else's (because it isn't).
