Personally, I think Masi Oka's acting was a step down this season. Making him into a more mature person with more control over his powers has made him kind of deadpan, I do believe thats good character development but drama isn't Masi's strong point...and the comic relief and playfulness of last season's Hiro has been lost.

Jack Coleman has really outdone himself, and so far I have nothing but praise for his role this season...and if he doesn't get some kind of nomination...be it Golden Globes or Emmy's I'd be quite surprised.

Heroes was a breakout show...but its gonna take some convincing to get the kind of recognition it did at the awards shows this time around...as it did last year.

Jack Coleman is really the only member of the cast who deserves any kind of recognition. I wouldn't really blame the bad acting on the rest, they didn't have much to work with this year.

agreed...i was trying not to blame the actors...others have had their moments...like Greg Grunberg had a few moments but again only in small doses like the rest of the cast. I think Jack's performance as HRG far exceeds Terry O'Quinn's John Locke in Lost. He got that award last year as a mercy win.

I definitely agree. Coleman is brilliant and will likely get a statue at some point. I personally think he deserves it for the scene with his Russian mentor. The subtlety of his acting while he tortured him by taking his memories. Brilliant acting and writing. Coleman's acting allows you to sympathize with HRG and understand his need to protect his daughter, no matter how monstrous the things he does are. And that is why Coleman deserves it.

They've all had good moments (except West, really, but I personally feel that is combination of both bad dialogue and bad acting). But the problem is the writing on this show is so hit and miss. Even if one of the actors has an amazing episode, chances are the next episode will be dialogue so corny and the character motivations so unbelievable that their acting suffers as a result. Afterall, they can only work with what they are given.

I thought both Adrian (Nathan) and Ali (Nikki/Jessica) did well last season when their characters were given meaty roles to screw up, but both characters got shafted this season and neither actors get to do very much. I do agree that Coleman's HRG is the best all around, and writers consistently gave him good stuff to work with.

Coleman definitely a yes. Masi Oka as well, as he's still one of the only actors on TV that has two work in two languages, and his acting was good even though the story was weak.

Hmmm..I'd have to say Jack Coleman was the best this season. Second goes to Monica. Jack is good though except when he makes a sad face, that makes me cringe.
But last season I think Niki/Jessica was the best actress hands down when she was given good stuff with lots of emotinal death. And I also liked Masi and Hayden's acting.

In Hiro's defense, it's hard to be the comic relief without your right-hand man (Ando).

As much as I like Ando, I think he should be written out of season 3. It became obvious that writers have nothing for him to do, since Hiro can teleport and he doesn't need Ando to be with him anymore. That part of Ando reading Hiro's adventures on those notes from the sword is just a lame attempt to create screentime for Ando, but I hope they won't repeat it again in Volume 3.

Award worthy acting this season?
I don't think so. :o Jack Coleman maybe, but probably not.

Great: Jack Coleman, David Anders, Milo V., Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto, Greg Grunberg,
Good: Hayden P., Kristen Bell, Masi Oka.
Mediocre: Sendil R., Ali Larter, Monica, Micah, James Kyson.
Terrible: Maya.

Coleman, Anders and Masi for me.

Ali Larter still needs to get her damn award for last season! She was amazing.

If I had to choose two people from this season, it would be Ali Larter & Greg Grunberg. They should screen "Out Of Time" as the episode to review for any upcoming award shows.

Bizarro! It's you!

Jack Coleman and Masi were both great this year.

Honorable mention to Tobolowsky and especially Cristine Rose. Even though she got shortchanged this season like nearly everyone else, she's made Angela into such a cold, evil ***** that I felt I had to mention her. She's great.

Zachary Quinto's acting was worse this season. he does the over the top..deep, mysterious, bad guy voice with the cheesy one liners. sounds forced

Quinto only acts decently when he's trying to piss someone off(Maya, Mohinder). Every other time he's twirling his mustache and trying too hard to look evil.

Ali was good last season(though sometimes Niki was just waayy too whiny/weepy/helpless). She didn't have much to do this time around.

I like HRG and Jack Coleman, but I enjoyed him a bit more last season. There weren't any "Company Man" moments for me.

Everyone else was either average or semi-crappy. Except West who had more crappy moments than others. But like it was said, it didn't help that he had such s**ty dialogue.

Ali is a good actress with a crappy character. no matter how good she acts, Niki still sucks. the actress who plays Angela Petrelli is pretty good, same with the girl who plays Molly, more so last season though. Dania Ramirez will be better next season, she's a good actress..and her character has some potential now, unlike Niki.

Most of us agree, Jack Coleman is the best actor on the show, although Cristine Rose and Stephen Tobolowsky deserve a special mention.

Sounds like you're listing favorite characters. I can't imagine a moment this season where Adrian OR Sylar brought out any feeling whatsoever. Even David Anders' being betrayed was... 'sucks to be you' instead of actually hurtful. Dana Davis plays Monica.

I think that HRG stood out without a doubt, by far the best acting
