Terminator 2>Aliens>Terminator>True Lies>The Abyss>>Titanic>>>>>>>>>>Avatar

Count me in as team Avatar. I freaking loved that movie, Given all the hate for Avatar I feel like I'm in a minority but BO numbers don't lie.

Funny with this and the Nolan thread, both some of my absolute favorite directors. And again like Nolan, Cameron hasn't done a feature film (like Cameron himself I'm not counting Piranha 2 here) I didn't like.

1. Terminator 2
2. The Terminator
3. Aliens
4. Avatar
5. Titanic
6. The Abyss
7. True Lies

I don't get the modern hate Cameron gets, he hasn't lost it by far. I loved Avatar.

Like Nolan, I have liked all of Camerons movies, T1, T2 and Aliens are all in my top 10 favourites of all time, but Aliens has to be the best for me:

1)Aliens
2)The Terminator
3)Terminator 2: Judgement Day
4)Avatar
5)True Lies
6)The Abyss
7)Titanic

T2 and Aliens are in my top 10 movies of all time. No place for Nolan in my top 10 but that may well change with Intersteller as Sci-Fi is my favorite genre.

Titanic is the best movie ever made. Not only Cameron's best.

When I hear James Cameron, the first two movies I always think of first are Terminator 2 and Aliens.

For me, the list is thus...

1) Terminator 2
2) The Abyss
3) Aliens
4) Terminator
5) True Lies
6) Titanic
7) Avatar

Speaking of the Abyss, isn't about time that the re-mastered special edition Blu-Ray came out???

Man this is tough, the first two I go back and forth on but here we go:

1. Terminator 2
2. Aliens
3. The Terminator
4. The Abyss
5. True Lies

6 Titanic

7. Avatar

I miss old Cameron.

Well I'm pissed we still have not gotten True Lies or The Abyss on Blu-Ray. What's the hold up?

Terminator 2, with Aliens a very close second. They're not only completely kickass, they're also more than just actionfests. They're complete, well-rounded movies where you actually care about the characters.

Titanic is easily the weakest, IMO.

My ranking of Cameron films:

1. T2
2. Terminator
3. Aliens
4. True Lies
5. The Abyss
6. Titanic

Don't like the last 2

It's kinda funny how people complain about Avatar not being original while T2 get so much praise when it was practically the first Terminator remade with a much bigger budget. I mean, if Avatar was bad only because it wasn't original, than anything unoriginal is bad. Otherwise the critics doesn't make sense. Personally I've loved pretty much all of his movies. True Lies is the only one I found a little weaker than the rest. Mostly because it just really don't feel like a Cameron-movie for me. It's the only movie that feels like Cameron made only for fun and where it feels like he really didn't have anything to say. Even so, it's not a bad movie and it's easily one of Schwarzenegger's best and one of the better James Bond-wannabes

Glad to see T1 having some votes. Seems I am one of the few who finds T1 better than the sequel, and T1 as a movie just doesnt get enough praise IMO. I change between T1 and Aliens all the time for my favourite movie ever, 60% of the time its Aliens though, so I had to vote that.

My disliking of Avatar has nothing to do with "originality" there is no such thing anymore. It was about execution. I did not care about anyone in Avatar, it felt hollow to me. His earlier works did not. It's not a terrible film, but it's not great either.

The story is wrote and heavy handed, the characters are cookie cutter and cliché, the movie is maybe 20 minutes too long but I couldn't care less I love Avatar.

Titanic is clearly the best made, but T2 is my pick.

Titanic made the most money but that doesn't equal the best made, just the most popular. I like Avatar but it's hardly the best work and the movie fell short of the hype given how rote the story was. I still like every Cameron film I can think of. Even Piranha 2 which is so bad it's funny and not really even his outside of his desperation of the time for a pay check.

Voting T2 is not an indictment on the other movies, really. It's just so freaking good. Even 22 years later. True Lies is tempting for me to list pretty high up there. For what the movie is and tries to be, it succeeds (and then some). It's one of my favorites, and one of the most overlooked movies of his career, and in general.
