I just bought season 5 of Smallville (yay price drop!), and watched the episode where Lionel becomes the oracle and starts scratching Zod's Z all over the place. If that's suppose to be Zod's symbol, and the Kryptonian language has become an "official" language in the DCU (as shown in Batman/Superman), and the backwards S is basically a Z, wouldn't it be cool if this entire time Bizarro was some kinda Zod sleeper agent? Or is this just another one of my crazy ideas that only sound good in my head?

In the comics? No, there's never been anything to justify any sort of connection between Zod and Bizarro. Depending on which version is canon now, Bizarro was either a failed attempt at a Superman clone by Lex Luthor, or a creature from a backwards parallel Earth. No real way to connect that with the Phantom Zone criminals (except maybe in All-Star Superman, where you could make the case that the Phantom Zone and the Underverse are related)

In Smallville or some other alternate storyline, that could work. But in the comics, no. Bizarro's always been more of a lackey for Luthor than Zod anyway.

I know there hasn't ever been a connection between the two, hence the sleeper agent part, but I think you're right and now the cannon story for Bizzaro is that there's a world of them... and ignore Smallville for now.

I'm just thinking that some creative mind could retrofit a connection between Bizzaro and Zod. Morrison, Loeb or Johns could easily do it. And it would be kinda funny too since the link would've been right in their face the entire time.

Eh, maybe, but I don't see what good it would do. Bizarro (especially the Bizarro-World version) is an interesting and unique enough character to stand on his own. Making him just a lackey for yet another villain would just take away from that.

Zod is strong enough to take on Superman on his own, and if he needs a mindless hulk to do his dirty work, he's already got Non for that.

As interesting as a Bizarro/Zod team-up might be, it'd still be largely unnecessary. Then again, Luthor and Brainiac were always very similar characters back in the day, so it's not to say that it couldn't work.

(Edit: now that I'm thinking about it, I'd love to see Superman, Bizarro, and Zod tear it up in a three-way brawl. Maybe if Johns and Donner ever get around to finishing "Last Son"...)

I've seen a scanned page of an old comic that depicts Zod on trial, and there's a machine making duplicates of Zod that are sortof like Bizarro.

Smallville took the Kryptonian alphabet from the comics, not the other way around. It was in use long before Batman/Superman.

Yeah, I've seen that. I think that was originally how Zod was going to take over Krypton in the old comics: instead of starting a civil war or whatever, he was just going to use an army of Zod-bots.

Really? I never remember seeing it before then. got any pics?
