BLM Protests Across The World

Also, daily reminder that the officers who killed Breonna Taylor are still free
Who is to blame in that? Is it the cops who fired, or the idiot who sent them to wrong house to begin with? The problem might be higher up.

I saw online that extremists are recruiting for a terrorist attack on protesters. Scary times indeed.

Old news but still.

Multiple heads should roll for that. I still don't get the purpose of a no knock warrant in the middle of the night. You are asking for trouble! So many things can go wrong at that time.

i admit, i'm in two minds about the Bristol statue incident.... I think it's 100% to remove a statue that honours a slave trader... but i'm not comfortable with it being done by protesters... it should have been the local city council.... if only because the scenes with the statue did not look safe at all

Although I get the joke, in all seriousness, I don't think it is accurate to say the police are being targeted for a crime they "didn't commit". As peace officers, members of the police forces are in positions of power over people's lives and have legal duties to intervene to prevent crime as part of their employment. The vast majority of police officers have either turned a blind eye to the misconduct of their colleagues (as "blue wall" solidarity) or have promoted and disseminated the prejudiced views that result in these incidents. Such encouragement and/or inaction in preach of their legal duties as peace officers and makes them guilty as accessories and/or for criminal negligence causing death.

I get what you're saying but if the past week has proven anything, protestors get **** done while elected officials twiddle their thumbs and make nice speeches.

I like seeing the people take action and even though it's just one statue, it feels like an important step.

That is true. from what i've seen the local council have been saying they'd remove it for years (and the other stuff to the guy around Bristol) but hadn't done anything.

Yeah, they had a lot of time to get rid of it. They seemed fine with the symbol of racism. So the people handled their business.

I know, right? It doesn't make sense to me either. :(

Impressive is a massive understatement. It would take serious firepower to subdue a crowd that size which is something the LAPD should really think about before they push the people to the point where no ****s are given.

I wonder if it makes Army and National Guard a little nervous seeing that many Americans united.

P.S. I hope Trump is in his bunker jealous about the size of that crowd.

#CrowdEnvy

Yeah, its something the cops are not used to. The sheer mass of people against them is a direct threat to their power, that they can't just overwhelm. The NYPD is pissed with the governor for not taking up Trumps offer of the military.

The judge who approved the no knock warrant as well. That is something that needs to be policy as well, if you serve a no knock, you need to be uniformed.

Yep.

People wanted the statue gone for years and the council didn't budge so I can't be too shocked that people took actions into their own hands. The council should of either sold it off to someone who can keep it on private land or melt the thing down and get something more fitting put up its place.

Bristol group Massive Attack have refused to play at the Colston hall venue until they change the name. They pledged this back in 1998 and have still not played at that venue. Colston hall is being renovated and is changing it's name upon reopening so change is slowly coming to Bristol.

My worry with the statue thing is that it's only a matter of time before people get hurt or worse while removing one

Such ignorance as shown for a week now wotu police not giving damn if civilians doing illegal activities or not

As for Floyd apparently trying to pass a counterfeit $20......we have a cop on speed dial at our store who will show up literally within a few minutes of us calling him, and we have never called him because someone handed us an iffy $20.

Because we don’t know if the customer even knows it’s a bad $20. They could have gotten it from anywhere, from getting cash back at another store where the cashier got it from another customer or whatever.

My manager advises the person in that situation to take it to their bank to get double checked and see if they’ll let them swap it for a legit $20.
