BLM Protests Across The World

Because he wanted to ask a question? Because he wanted to? Because he wanted to tell them something? Does it really matter? It takes zero effort to sidestep and avoid him vs pushing him.
This is why in the middle of the pandemic so many are taking to the streets. Because for far too many the first question when something like this happens, is what did the citizen do wrong. Even when there is video.

I see on twitter that the hashtag baldforblm is a thing and I'm confused as to whether it's a real thing or is it something 4chan made up.

Are you serious? The man walks up to them, stops, is clearly talking to them, is obviously elderly, obviously not the most fleet of foot, and clearly not a threat at all, and then they shove him to the ground and now he might die, and your question is why was he moving forward? Not, why did the piece of trash members of the police decided to shove a 70 year old to the ground? Really?
It's a legitimate question from my POV. I think I can ask it without being insensitive to what happened to the man. Considering all the emotions running high and what we've seen on media the past week, walking up to a bunch of marching cops doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do.

Yeah the problem is that we’re normalizing this.

I watched it knowing he’d be blamed for being shoved to the ground even though he poses a danger to no one

I can't remember where I heard it. I think it was one of my sports podcasts from this week, but one of the presenters was talking about their mother, who lived through the 60s and how much it hurt her that people are still out on the streets having to fight for the same things they did then. It made her feel like so little progress had been made.

We have absolutely no idea why he went to the cops (for all we know he was asking for help).....but the story so far....he is 75 years old and in the hospital while several cops are now sidelined.

So knowing the emotions running high and what we have seen on the media this past week, you wanted to come into this thread, where people have constantly spoke over the emotions and pain they have felt reading and watching these horrors over the past week, to ask why a man who did nothing wrong, walked up to the police, instead of why did the police assault him?

Okay, I'll answer it. It's a free country and he was exercising his rights as American to be able to talk to a police officer without being assaulted, even if they decided to dress like they were cosplaying Call of Duty.

Terrible situation.

ATTENTION
For this thread and this thread alone....videos of the protest around the country with cursing in them will be allowed to be posted without the poster being infracted. There will be no commentating by posters with them using cursing. There will not be posting of texts or twitter, etc that have cursing in them. We are talking about only allowing videos of the historic events going on at this time. The videos will not be embedded here, but put in links only AND you will put a warning that the link contains uncensored cursing. This addendum to the rules will not include any other thread or forum on the Hype.

So.....a nuke from Russia or China, an alien invasion, Gammera, King Kong, Godzilla, Robot invasion, zombies and murder hornets by July 4th?
Might as well have it all in one go. Let’s get this done and over with. I’m just so... tired.

I'm for adding more possibilities, adding them to the roulette wheel and seeing if I can hit the jackpot.

Well, with the new rule in place, I think it's important for people to see the video. There is cursing in the video.

**The new rule for this thread states that the videos MUST BE LINKED and not embedded**

I came in here and saw the video. So yes, I responded by asking about his motivations precisely because of the disturbing things we've seen from law enforcement over the last 10 days.

Well I know I would have felt threatened if I was one of the several cops he approached. One of them was even nice enough to get on his radio to, hopefully, call in a medic. Give that guy a medal.

What the ****?

-Man is an elderly and the cops struck first

-One of them looked down, concerned but then quickly pushed by others to move ahead

-Man started bleeding from the back of his head and the cops all just rushed other protesters and then came back to look down at the man without helping

That is so damn messed up! Apparently they only suspended?

The man is in his 70's and all he did was shout at the cops. There is no ****ing excuse for what they did and handled the situation afterwards. They need a bigger punishment than just suspension

Why are you asking about his motivations? Do you think anyone knows what they were? Were his motivations important? Look at the video and tell me the actions of the police were justified. Let's not get sidetracked by guessing what someone was thinking.

I get that there are hundreds of situations that could have gone as wrong as this, but didn't. The police are trained and paid to handle themselves when confronted by dangerous elderly citizens. I don't care about his motivations. I have eyes and ears.

Remember....just because it's only a suspension now, it doesn't mean more won't be done later.

Better be more consequences. Hopefully the old man lives to sue if he wants and not his family doing it because he died

I get all that and agree with you, inexcusable actions. I just can't make sense of it from a self-preservation perspective, which is why I asked about the details.

He's in stable condition, but my grandmother died of a stroke a few years after taking much less of a fall than that after splitting open her head in exactly that region (occipital).
