I think that cop was ineptly trying to kick the guy in the back of the knee to drop him to his knees. But here it backfired. The chicken**** cop lost all composure and him and his buddies made a complete hash of the arrest.

This video is a clear example of piss poor training and piss poor judgement leading to an assault that could have easily been avoided with simple communication.

It's like street cops dont understand human behavior at all. Normal humans dont want to die or feel pain if they dont have to. So when a human finds themselves surrounded they are going to either take the path of least resistance or fight like a cornered bear. You can usually tell how a person is going to respond with even basic observational skills. This man was responding and complying. If he was planning to rabbit or fight he wouldn't have turned his back and put his hands on his head.

I agree.

I think the long standing thinking is that a cop should be in a physical position of leverage which is why cops are trained to make the person lie down or lean over the hood or lean against the cop car. Also why a person is told to put their hands up and to interlock their fingers. When done right it's not bad and wont hurt the person being arrested. But as has become abundantly clear too many cops are too aggressive about it, too poorly trained to carry out these procedures safely, and way to high on their own supposed authority. The common sense thing would have been to tell the guy to walk slowly backwards to them or just ask him to get down on his knees.

The momentum of these protests and seriousness that publics are giving to defunding/abolitionist politics are heartening to see and just amazing given that four years ago folks online (and some who are posting in this thread) labelled BLM in Toronto terrorists and said they held Pride hostage when they protested the marching cops.

This is beyond ridiculous. Fast food chains get backed up and this has happened to me at my local Mcdonalds often. She thinks they are going to poison her like that stuff is just next to the ketchup?
