BLM Protests Across The World

A female suspect was shot and killed by cops in Columbus, Ohio a couple hours ago after a reported attempted stabbing. The article doesn't say, but word has it that it was a 15-year-old girl. So I guess we'll have to see how this plays out and if it's another hot button incident.

One person killed in officer-involved shooting on East Side

It was a 15 year old girl killed. Its going to be a hot button issue. Nothing in that article says she was a suspect.

Yeah, I think 20 max is what we are looking at.
Is there chance of appeals? If not, he still has good behavior and parole to fall back on. I think he'll be out of prison in 7 -10 years.

My bad if I jumped the gun assuming the girl shot by the cop was the suspect, though it's probable. But yes, a teenager being shot by a cop is gonna be more fuel for the fire.

I'd assume his lawyers will appeal. The judge already seemed to agree with them that Maxine Waters' comments could even be grounds for an appeal, although many legal experts elsewhere seemed to cast doubt on whether that would actually work in actual practice.

Waters aside, do his lawyers have any other viable grounds for an appeal?

Confirms it was a 15 year old black girl, and further down in his tweets, he says apparently there is body cam footage

I hate to admit how close my thoughts on the subject are to anyone on Fox, even a marginally more reasonable one. Although I disagree that there’s any ambiguity about Chauvin being guilty

And this is exactly why I don't buy the fear of a gun in the Daunte Wright case. Because they if that was the fear, they wouldn't have gone for the taser. They go for their guns. They shot a 15 year old child for having a knife.

Bryant said her niece has been living in a foster home on the east side of Columbus where the fatal shooting took place. She said several adult women had come to the foster home and started an altercation with the teenager, who called police and her biological father and grandmother for help. She grabbed a knife to defend herself, Bryant said.

According to Bryant, who said she had been told of the events by Makiyah’s grandmother and father, Makiyah was in front of the house fending off a physical assault when police arrived, and she had already dropped the knife in the yard. But police shot her four times without any warning, she said.

“The police are going to lie. I’m so thankful that someone from the family was actually on the scene,” Bryant said. “The police are going to lie. The police are going to cover up for themselves. They don't care. At this point, I feel like they’re just out to kill Black people. They’re not here to protect and serve. That isn’t happening. That’s been over a long time ago. They’re not here to protect and serve. They’re here to kill Black folks.”

The Columbus Dispatch reported that police officers were sent to the scene after a 911 caller reported an attempted stabbing, saying a female was trying to stab them.

Bryant disputed information circulating in local media that Makiyah had tried to stab someone and appeared to be a threat, saying Columbus police had released false information to explain the shooting. “I’m overwhelmed,” Hazel said. “It’s awful.”

While I definitely believe you and I am sure others feel that way, I don't think Gutfield is actually relieved, I think he is disappointed. Like Tucker, he wanted violence in the streets. Which is why he tried to stir the conversation to a nonexistent situation.

But he doesn't have to worry. If what happened in Ohio is as bad as it is being reported, he'll get black folks to call savages and cops busting them in the head.

Stay safe man.

We are going to need it. Because if it is as bad as some are saying, it will be very bad.

Oof......apparently I was wrong about the girl being the suspect, my bad.

Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Because what I'm reading in comments is that the shooting victim was the one who called 9-1-1 in the first place and told them she was getting attacked, then when they showed up, she had a knife in self-defense and they shot her five times in the chest.

Holy ****, if that's all true, this is.....really, really bad.

I'm glad I live far away from Columbus. Not much happens immediately around here, protest/riot-wise, apart from a few Trumpers protesting the lockdown in the parking lot of the diner decorated with Trump flags around the corner from my store a while back.

It is still bad that we had to wait and see if a murder that was caught on tape was enough to find a cop guilty. That should not happen again. This newest murder should be treated even more importantly. The initial reports sound like they just shot another teenager for being black and in the vicinity of a crime occuring.

Even worse, apparently she was the one who called the police in the first place.

We don't know if the story is true yet or not, but it does not surprise me that calling the cops would lead to the death of a person of color. I learned long ago to only call the cops as a last resort.

If this reported body cam footage exists---and it better---we need it ASAP to see for sure what exactly happened here.

If it doesn't exist, then these cops should no longer be cops on that basis alone.

Like I said, we need the footage, because I'm not sure how much of what is being said is true vs being distorted. I had heard she was face down on the ground, with the knife beside her when she was shot 4 times. Which frankly, could just be some distortion of the initial reports.

Some video has been released. I'm sure it will be more clear when we get direct video, and not an off screen recording. The thing that sticks out to me, of the three officers there, only the shooter had his gun out. Oh wait, theres a fourth who had his gun out, who didn't show up till after.
