Just in case u don't already know....BRAWL'S NAME IS NO LONGER BRAW! IT'S DEVASTATOR! WTF?! They've said for MONTHS it's Brawl, but WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT TO DEVASTATOR?!

My point: couldn't they've just WARNED us ahead of time BEFORE the movie came out?

Yes.

Because hardcore Transformers fans like to **** their pants over such things? At least that's the feel I've gotten from browsing this neck of the woods for about, oh, a day. I can see where they're coming from, but freaking out about it is a little much.

Amen to that, besides, when Devasator transformed he was far more menacing with all that weaponry then the cartoon Devastator ever was. I find a robot with enough firepower to level a small country far more interesting on screen then a robot with nothing special about him other then his size.

I thought I read that it is supposed to be Brawl. Devastator was used in the pre-production and production and was supposed to be removed at some point and Brawl insterted per Michael Bay. Post-production screwed it up and forgot to change it. At that time, I though, Bay said it was too late to go back and change it, so they let it be.

Other trivia of note, if imdb can be believed:

The character of Arcee was included in the script, but poor fan reaction caused her to be cut out and replaced with Ironhide.

The Decepticon Bonecrusher was originally named Devastator. The Decepticon Brawl was originally named Demolishor, while the Brawl name was originally given to the character who would later become Barricade. Interestingly, during the premier in some foreign countries, Brawl was referred to as "Devastator" in subtitles.

The Decepticon Soundwave was originally in the script, but was replaced with Blackout (who had originally been named Vortex, and later Incinerator). He is to appear in the film's sequel.

The Decepticon Frenzy was originally named Soundbyte. The writers had also called him "Soundwave" in the original script, but decided to change him to his current name until they could "do Soundwave correctly."

At one point the Decepticon animal Ravage was included in the script, but he was removed and replaced with Scorponok, another robotic animal.
