Brazilian Senator Valdir Raupp is no friend of videogames. In fact, he finds them so offensive that he recently drafted a bill to make it illegal to make, sell or import any videogames deemed troublesome in the eyes of the Brazilian government. Rather than deal with real criminal issues, the Senate has approved the proposal, which means it will now be voted on in the Committee on Constitution and Justice

What's even more crazy is that your not allowed to cut down more then 1 tree per lifetime in Vancouver.

I wish I could throw a turtle shell at him.

I just love people who like to blame the wrong things instead of the bad parents, criminals and overall nutso extremists causing violence. :csad::cmad:

Yeah because most of the people who live in the crime-ridden slums own a PS3.

If I lived in Brazil and couldn't get my violent video games to play because of this I'd hunt that guy down and step on his neck till I hear a crack. Video games don't make you violent!! And I'll punch anyone in the face who says different.

If it passes, then it'll suck to be a gamer in Brazil. oh well.

Blanka will be heartbroken. :csad:

Another dumbass politician using video games as a scapegoat. Why am I not surprised?

agreed i recently saw a kid(around 7) holding modern warfare 2. i said to him while speaking to him mum.

me:"great game was playing it last night"
mum: "yeah i just got it for him, was a bit worried about it, but he told me it's not that violent"
me: " no not really, there is worse. but thats why they put the big 18 certificate on stuff as a warning"
mum: " really he told me that was the amount of levels the game has"

at this point the kid is starting to look sheepish as hell

i don't know what was worse the mum stupidity or the fact the kid was that crafty

That is the perfect example of lazy parenting.

Reminds me back in the 90's when that mother living in the midwest bought her really young son the fighting game Primal Rage. She got it banned because one of the character's fatalities, he pisses on the body of the loser and it kills them because his urine is basically acid. It was one of the ape characters and they made sure to have his back to the players so not to show his penis.

Instead of the mom blaming herself for not reading up on what game she was buying her adolescent son, she gets the game banned from numerous stores in the midwest. I would love to ***** slap people like that.

In a just world, that kid would get a beating when they get home, or at least have the game taken away. Probably didn't happen though.

I'm surprised at how violent some people are sounding on this thread, but I don't think that video games can cause violence or teach the skills necessary to commit the kinds of acts portrayed on video games.

What is the video game industry like in Brazil?

I was thinking something along those lines as well.

Pfft, silly senator -- thing sdon't work in the real world the same way they do in video-games. Just the other day I walked by this really cool car, started hitting enter but never got in..

Stop doing drugs. Have you seen the beautiful trees of Vancouver. I've seen shows and movies filmed there. Makes me want to visit Vancouver, BC, Canada. So....beautiful.
