i'm not surprised people believe it.

it's not because they're stupid or gullible. if a guy from fox news says breaking news, regardless of how ridiculous it is, people are likely to believe it because it comes from a major news station and the news is evidently late breaking, so corroborating it's veracity is difficult to do. if they reported an alien landing, which is far more extraordinary than this, i would not be surprised to see just as many people believing it until it is disproved. we are only as informed as our media wants us to be.

also, many of them seem disbelieving at first, but upon insistence by the reporter, they buy into it. i mean, what is the logical response to a news reporter continually insisting the news he's breaking is legitimate?
