I've had to get in touch with some of my company's partners via phone today, and about half of their automated phone services feature a chirpy, british female voice running down the options. I suppose they thinks it sounds more fancy shmancy, but I noticed it is all. Though it was better than one company I called in Mississippi that featured a woman that said the names of employees and their extensions, but like 4 of them were long Indian names, and the voice kept mispronouncing, stammering, and repeating the names....which they kept intact on the recording. Very professional joint, indeed.

I'm bored, man. Work is boring.

Cell phones aren't allowed in my workcenter so there is a cell phone detector in our lobby. The when it detects a cell phone you hear a british lady's voice say, "A prohibited mobile device has been detected in the area, please remove it immediately from the vicinity". When we called computer support to find out how to change the voice file we were informed that they don't recommend we do that. They informed us that a foreign accented voice is more likely to be paid attention to than a domestic one. Made sense I guess...but that doesn't make it any less annoying.

Normally neither do I...but this one makes me want to punch a baby.
