I was thinking; in Batman begins, Bruce is taught ninjistu, which in real life had 18 techniques.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninjitsu#18_Ninjutsu_Skills_.28Ninja_Juhakkei.29.
But even though they were focusing on combat and theatricality, Taijutsu, THE ninja's hand to hand combat; system, it wasn't used. They used that new martial arts system. What, the filmmakers coun't ANYONE who practices Taijutsu? It's not even a dead art; it's still taught today, all over the wolrd. It would have been better, in my opinion, if they showed some training in these disciplines: Kayakujutsu (pyrotechnics and explosives)
Hens?jutsu (disguise & impersonation
14. B?ryaku (military strategy)
15. Ch?h? (espionage)
16. Intonjutsu (escaping and concealment)
17. Tenmon (meteorology)
18. Chi-mon (geography)

The only think in the movie that even briefly dealt with those kinds of learning was when Ducard was saying that Bruce can be taught to in gage 600. The Ninja's, the REAL ones that were around centuries ago, they really kicked ass! OK, enough of this rant. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

And fear gas?
That's not real-!

Um... Where did I say anything about fear gas?

i think the film makers wanted to go for a martial art that looked batman-like and not ninja-like.

besides...batman knows several martial arts and combines them into one super batman art. i think that's what the film makers were going for.

Exactly. Batman has to do techniques that make the audience think, "Whoa, I've never seen anybody do that before, he must be a master of martial arts to know something that obscure."

Plus, Bale and his stuntmen can only fight a certain way in the costume.

This member of the audience just had to think: "Whoa, I wish I could see what's going on. It sounds like they're fighting" :cmad:

Now we're complaining that Bruce didn't do enough kongfu?

I can't say cuz I couldn't see a damn thing about fights.

Is it me or did they not mention the other martial arts that Wayne studied in Begins? I know they mentioned techniques during one fight but that doesn't imply anything. My impression was that he went overseas, became a robber, got thrown in jail, and then Ducard/Ra's trained him. Even if he did train while away it was only for seven years which is not enough time to obtain various martial art styles and still live in Ra's house. Even if I'm wrong the idea of many martial arts was not clear enough for me and many others that I've spoken to.

As for what the film makers wanted, that was pointless. Batman could be the best or the worst fighter in the world but it wouldn't matter because I can't see a damn thing. He could have thrown Karate chops over and over and it wouldn't have mattered because it's un-watchable.

Your post made me really curious until I looked up the link you gave. There are 18 disciplines, not techniques. A technique is a move or series of movies, a discipline is a way of acting, fighting, believing, etc. I don't mean to come off as a know it all but I'm a martial artist and what was typed made me really curious.
