Can't import songs from a cd using Itunes 10, what could be the problem?

I downloaded Itunes 10 onto my laptop & when I insert a cd into the drive it seems to be able to read & play the disc but when I try to import the songs on the disc it then gives me an error message & closes itself down immediately. What could be the cause of this problem?

I actually ran into this problem last night when I was trying to import a CD to my laptop. It was fine a few days ago, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'll try it again tonight and I hope the problem will be resolved by itself.

I think I figured out how to import songs on my laptop now, I just switched the AAC Encoder to import as MP3 & that did the trick. I also set up a home network through Itunes so I could access all my music on multiple computers, as long as I have Itunes opened on my desktop & laptop I can listen to all the music that I have stored on Itunes without wasting much needed harddrive space redownloading songs onto my laptop.
