JV Pixar News reports that according to very reliable sources, a "Cars" sequel will be released after "Toy Story 3".

The rumor first emerged with comments by actor Paul Newman back in June that a sequel was in the works. Surprisingly no-one has dismissed the claims since then, causing the murmurs to swell.

If true, the film would be Pixar's 2011 release and John Carter of Mars would be pushed back to 2012. Brad Lewis' has an as yet unannounced project in the works, its speculated that this might be it.

Actually all work is going into Toy story and even Finding nemo 2.

i'd rather see the return of the INCREDIBLES

I hope not. I don't know if it's just me or not but since they went to CGI kids films as opposed to regular animation the characters they have been pumping out jus aren't as memorable as the Disney greats. Shrek and Toy Story are the only ones IMO. The rest are crap, who cares about two movies about penguins and then one about generic robots, as well as talking cars. The lamest one is the french mouse that cooks, not even going to try to remember how the name is spelled. I just don't see these characters lasting the test of time when it comes to bein memorable.

The only Pixar movie that even warrants a sequel is "The Incredibles". Maybe "Toy Story 3" could be good. But "Cars" and "Finding Nemo" need no sequels. "Nemo" is perfect as it is and I couldn't tolerate another "Cars" movie.

ugh... no, please?

cars was a decent movie, but easily the worst of the pixar films.

just pay brad bird an obscene amount of money so he'll come back and do a sequel to the incredibles... or a live action iron giant.

Cars was a horrible movie idea and a dumb movie IMO. It warrants no sequels. Might as well make a JJ the Jett Plane movie. Anyways, the Incredibles does need a sequel...that could be a good franchise. Toy Story 3 might also be pretty good but lets leave one Nemo as it is.

I'd rather see an Incredibles sequel before Cars. Though Cars is my third favorite Pixar movie.

I did like The Incredibles, but I find it quite easily the most over-rated out of the Pixar movies  , personal opinion ofcourse :cwink: I loved Cars, and the Toy Story franchise is my favourite from Disney :woot: Toy Story 2 is my ultimate animated movie, so I can't wait for the trilogy to be completed. Maybe they'll make more afterwards,to infity & beyond....sorry,I had to say it :oldrazz:

I loved Cars, but the only sequels I want are for Toy Story or The Incredibles. Other than that, keep the original ideas coming, please.

Cars 2 Racing into Theaters in 2011!

ComingSoon.net reporter Heather Newgen is attending an all-day Disney event where they're doing presentations for their upcoming films, and it was just announced that they're now shooting for PIxar's Cars 2, the sequel to John Lasseter's 2006 summer hit Cars, to come out in the summer of 2011, rather than the summer of 2012, as originally announced. Pixar Animation Studios has animators working "around the clock" to make this earlier date happen.

Such a shame. Pixar are great, but this seems a little self indulgent.

Exactly, how about they just continue making fresh, new movies? It's not like Disney concerned themselves with sequels (atleast until the modern day - The Lion King 2? Have they not shame?).

So instead of making something original or making a sequel to the far superier Incredibles, they decide to make a sequel to Cars?????

Could be they're thinking that Cars is easier to improve on than The Incredibles... :)

I don't think anyone could "improve" Cars if they wanted to...

They are making a Cars 2 because the merchandise for the first film reportedly sold like crazy and still sells very well. Honestly, I didn't like Cars much, but I can understand them making another one because they need to pay the bills. Pixar's last "Big Hit" money making wise was The Incredibles...And that was 4 years ago.

Cars was Pixar's worse movie. Bad idea. :down
