I wonder if Luke Goss is playing two characters or is it more like Prince Nuada has a title or nick name? Silverlance, very interesting.

Thomas Kretschmann seems like a odd choice for Johann. I always expected Johann to have kind of a bubbley voice with a crazy german accent. TK seems much more raspy and sinister, but I just migth be remembering his character from King Kong too much.

Doug Jones and Brian Steele playing four characters each means there'll be a lot of cool monsters. I'd like to see Jenny Greenteeth and that transformed fairy pig guy. Jack-in-Irons would be great too. del Toro and co. will whip up some cool stuff fo sure.

I wonder how they are going to explain what happened to Myers.

Kretschmann...he was in RE:Apocalypse. Easily the best part of the movie. He has an intimidating voice.

More news:
We JUST finished the first day of shooting.

A few things-

1) Danny Elfman IS going to score HELLBOY II and I feel privileged. I have worked with Marco Beltrami many times and will work with him soon enough but I believe we will have a beautiful score with Elfman, whom I admire greatly (in fact the "Title sewquence" music cue had the "Ta-de-dum-ta-de-dum" rythm by explicit request by me in an atempt to make it kind of Elfmanesque) and with whom I share a dark view of the world.

As for C Drake- I fought tooth and nail for him to do the animated series and won. I hope I can work with him soon in his first full feature score but this one it is not.

2) In the first HELLBOY film we had about 8 creatures (total, between CGI and animatronics/prosthetics) but in this one we have around 30 or more and the emphasis is still heavily on a 50% 50 % balance with CGI as enhancemnet or as a choice but not THE choice.

David's Dad (form DDT FX) has undergone a delicate surgical procedure, please send positive thoughts his way. David and Montse are a beautiful couple and deserving of all the joy and happiness.

I'll check in again soon enough- I hope...

Love

Damn 30 creatures Awesome best news all day. HB vs. evil fairies HB versus giant demons hellboy versus evil sword wielding elf prince and more.
I hope we get trolls, flesh eating fairies and more lovecraftian creatures.

^Well, we'll at least get on troll since Brian Steele is slated to play him. I'm not sure lovecraftian creatures really belong in the fairy relm. However, GDT's fairies are never run of the mill, so I wouldn't be surprised if they at least bit and were poisonous.:D

Oh oops I forgot about the fairy realm thing so probably there won't be any lovecraftian looking creatures. But with all the others i won't even notice, I forgot the golden army how will those look. Iam expecting they are all armored in gold but kinda gritty dirty and lots of elven motives .I imagine them as golden armored knights but alot bigger maybe 8 feet hight.

This all sounds good, anyone got picture's of the new cast other than Goss and Kretchmann?

They start filming this Friday, so I think it's a bit early to be expecting any pics.

No, haha, I was meaning from the comic. To see how they look. I don't find it on google...

Somehow this update hasn't been posted:
Thomas is Johann's voice but we won't get to SEE him until -if there is ever- the next installment as some of his past come stumbling down on him (along with some German Fellas from the past).

For now the voice is what Thomas is doing...

Luke plays the Prince- whose complete name is Prince Nuada, he of the Silverlance. One character.

Doug plays:

Abe
Angel of death
The Chamberlain
maybe- Wizard (unscripted).

Brian

Troll
Mr Wink
Map Shop Owner
Fragglewump

I can scan a picture of Johann if you like, but none of the others are from the comics.

They aren't in the comics? are new characters? how can that be?

Of all the characters the one Iam looking forward to see the most is prince nuada. He's the mian antaginist and i want to see how he looks like. Maybe soon or near comic-con we get a couple of concept art drawings from Guillermo as a treat to fans.

Oh and i also want to know if something is different with HB like the tail.
I guess they would make it look more real and lifelike. The make-up in the first one was perfect so there's nothing to improve there really. The giant fist on the other hand could use some improvement to look a bit more rocklike and the cgi version really could improve and has to improve cause in some shots you could easily tell it was cg. Aside from that iam also want to see the golden army of and johan of course.

Easy, Mike Mignola and Guillermo del Toro wrote a whole new story for the movie and while it will have more of the feel of the comics, it will have all new characters with the exception being Johann.

Shadow, is there any word on Roger? A measely cameo in the first film does not suffice.:cmad:

Thanks for the info. I didn't know anything about the plot or sources of the film.

I thought Hellboy had a comic series.

He does and there's even a spin off called B.P.R.D. They're both very good and I highly recommend them, but the creator of Hellboy (Mike Mignola) and the director of the movie (Guillermo del Toro) thought it would be good to create a whole new story for the second movie. If you want, I can scan a picture of Johann from the comics, but as for the rest, you're just going to have to wait until the pics start coming out. You'll be in good company, I assure you.:yay:
