Catwoman/Batman sex in the comics

I haven't read any of new DC but why all this reactions to a sex scene on a comic book?

Well it is a tasteless way of showing things. And some people just seem to be surprisingly puritanical. But people are always saying show, don't tell, so I have no idea.

I read that issue in the store; it's honestly kind something that's really hard to not giggle aloud at just because of the ridiculousness of the situation.

Given the situation I was there with Catwoman though and acting like that in sexual antics, I would be a bit envious.... :awesome:

Here's the panel in question with alternate narration from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.

Hahaha finally. Granted I don't like how it's presented, but happy to see Batman not be so moody all the time.

I have no problem with sex scenes in comics (especially Selina/Bruce), but I have to agree that the way the scene is drawn is not very flattering, hence the outrage about it.

I'm not sure if there has been other explicit scenes of Batman banging his love interests/supermodels, but I have come across one panel of Talia/Bruce making love and in comparison with the Catwoman/Batman sex scene, you can definitely tell the difference.

Even though Catwoman/Batman are fully clothed and Talia/Bruce are fully naked, the former is more ' pornographic' looking than the latter. I think it's that whole issue between classy love-making shots vs cheap porn-y fanart, and I think Catwoman/Batman's sex scene could have been done in a MUCH better way. Less exposure, more suggestiveness (or ambiguity), more off-centre shots...

In my opinion, it's got nothing to do with people having a problem with empowered women/heroines having casual sex with comic book superheroes. It's just that the artwork is not classy.

Actually the scene you posted looks kind of ridiculous.

Yet somehow still not as ridiculous as Batman/Catwoman in their pornographic positions.

People are still going on about this? They got it on, let it go.

As opposed to Batman/Catwoman looking like they've been traced from a screenshot of the Batman Porn Parody?

I think the compansion is very intersting! Rough sex V. Passion sex!

It doesn't offend me, but I kinda figure that if sex is what someone is after, why do they need it in a comic?

I love that people have issue with characters having sex, which btw, is the only reason that any species exists and we are able to have this discussion, but they have no issue with the violence. Bruce and Selina get it on. How can you say it adds nothing? Anyone who has ever had sex knows it adds psychological and emotional layers and complicates relations.

PS... If you don't get this then you should stop reading comics and pick up books by Geoffrey Miller and David Buss.

I don't understand why them having sex is such a problem for some people. It adds a great deal to there relationship and makes them a bit more human. It will greatly complicate any encounters they have.
Its not like it takes up pages and pages. It's just a few panels just enough to get the message accross. They are clearly in love with each other but are too stubborn and worried about the other to make any kind of commitment but still can't help but go at it.

Them having sex is more like the Batman/Catwoman dynamic than them sitting in a cafe, possibly engaged to eachother. What's next? Marriage, children? What a stupid way to end the trilogy.

Obviously you're familiar with the earth 2 Huntress...

No, I'm not familiar with the thousands of different comic book storylines.

how come they dare try something that wasn't done thousands times already? Shame on them!

It was always implied that they had sex, C'mon guys! It was nice seeing Bruce happy for once. haha.
And Puh-leez, it's not like this is even close to the worse thing in comics. There have been babies microwaved in comics before, I'd much rather see Batman have sex than that.
