Synopsis

Based on George Crile's book about the CIA's largest and most successful covert CIA operation, the arming of the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan. The covert ops were engineered by Charlie Wilson (Hanks), a charismatic, wheeler-dealer, liberal Texas congressman who teamed with a rogue CIA operative (Hoffman). The two manipulated Congress, the CIA and a host of foreign governments in order to assist the Afghan rebels in their fight against the Soviets in the 1980s. Many of the men armed by the CIA went on to become the Taliban's enforcers and Osama bin Laden's protectors.

Wow this sounds like it could be fantastic,a Hanks Hoffman pairing should be awesome and i can already smell the Oscars:woot:

this movie seems to be great and the cast is excellent.

This'll wait till dvd for me.

It's probably going to get a boatload of Oscar Noms from the sound of it, not that it matters.

I'll definitely catch that in theaters

Really surprised at the lack of interest in the trailer, i think it looks fantastic, Hoffman and Hanks appear to be on top form and the tone of the film is fun with a bite.

Can't believe I haven't heard of this until now.

Anyway, it looks great. This must be the year of great team-ups.

Trailer was really good....that just peaked my interest even more. Hoffman and Hanks look to be on teh top of their games as does Roberts....must see IMO!

This is considered the Best Picture front runner, but Munich was the front runner last year and that didn't win.

from the trailer, it looks like a really interesting and entertaining movie. can't believe I have not heard of this one til now.

This is considered the Best Picture front runner, but Munich was the front runner last year and that didn't win.

I still think No Country for Old Men is the frontrunner

no country for old men... are you serious? i read the book and enjoyed it, but even i can tell when something is hollow as hell.

before the devil knows you're dead/michael clayton is my vote for 'front runner' but oscars are stupid anyway.

and this movie looks pretty interesting.

OM PURI is in this film??? KICK ASS

Not many know about him but he's considered one if not the best character actor in India alongside Naseerudin Shah... The man is an absolute delight to watch and by far one of the best actors walking the face of the Earth.
