This was in the papers around here today, apparently they both waited until the wedding day for any type of intimacy, including kissy-face. Kudos and all that, as I'm sure many of us, including myself, would've been jerking it like an amateur artist painting his first nude.

Alright, I can understand a lack of sexual intercourse... but a lack of intimacy altogether is incredibly pointless. Intimacy is an essential bond to a romantic relationship. If that spark did not exist in my own relationship, then I know I would be unable to stay with the person I'm with well into the future. Couples should at least kiss before deciding to get married, otherwise there remains the potential for intimacy problems to arise during the relationship. And yes, those problems often lead to divorce and regret.

I don't see how this is any different from marrying a really close friend just for the hell of it.

Scientific studies claim that good sex bolsters a relationship. Kissing is a part of that. If the person is a downright awful kisser, than isn't a physical relationship entirely out of the question? At the very least, it would make sex awkward (then again, since many "faithful Christian" types only have sex to reproduce, maybe it is a moot point entirely).

I would understand if one of these people had a salivary condition or was born without a mouth, but this seems like a foolish, downright silly mistake which this couple could possibly regret further down the road.

There isn't anything wrong with doing what they did, as long as they aren't lecturing me that I should do the exact same thing. I don't think they deserve kudos because I don't think there is anything intrinsically good about doing what they did. It was just what worked for them, and that's fine.
