Christian SHH! Members: Fave "God Song"?

Eternal Mystery is Chistian goregrind, like Vomitorial Corpulence. I enjoy Virgin Black as well and I see you, me, and Kal have the same taste. Haha, yeah I could never take Vomitorial Corpulence too seriously...I used to go to their site and listen to their first cd song samples while reading the lyrics and not sure whether they were serious or not. Not too much into grind, but I do love stuff like Scrolls of the Megilloth by Mortification.

I'm not a Christian, but I do like the song Cassie by Flyleaf, even though it has the facts of the Columbine incident completely wrong. Cassie wasn't the girl asked if she believed in god, that girl was spared. Cassie most likely died because she cut in front of one of them at lunch once or something.

You know, a lot of these songs aren't "God songs" or Christian. They're just songs that happen to have lyrical content that coincide with your religious beliefs.

Hypothetically speaking, would you find it disturbing if a song you listen to has Christian undertones?

No, it wouldn't considering I'm a Christian. I'm just saying just because it's a nice song, doesn't make it a "God song".

Didn't know you were a christian! Always nice to hear that about online friends.

Anyhow, some songs that come to mind for me are:

Disciple - "Things Left Unsaid"
Mark Schults - "He's My Son", and "He Will Carry Me"
Michael English - "Mary Did You Know"
Natalie Grant - "Held"
Ginny Owens - "Without Condition"
Jars Of Clay - "Worlds Apart", "Faith Like A Child", and "He"
Just about anything by Toby Mac

Three groups I got random CD's of but never really heard from again that I loved:

Typical Sloan, According To John, and Cosmos Express.

NEWSBOYS - Do You Believe - is my new favorite song right now.

Hillsong United's Empire is one my current favorite albums. Jesus Cultures "Set A Fire" and " No Other Like You" are on constant repeat on my iPhone!

In God's Country - U2 - 1987
I think there are some interesting Christian themes. Still one of my favorites.

Lyrics
Yeah
Desert sky
Dream beneath a desert sky
The rivers run but soon run dry
We need new dreams tonight
Desert rose
Dreamed I saw a desert rose
Dress torn in ribbons and in bows
Like a siren she calls to me
Sleep comes like a drug
In God's country
Sad eyes, crooked crosses
In God's country
Set me alight
We'll punch a hole right through the night
Everyday the dreamers die
See what's on the other side
She is liberty
And she comes to rescue me
Hope, faith, her vanity
The greatest gift is gold
Sleep comes like a drug
In God's country
Sad eyes, crooked crosses
In God's country
Naked flame
She stands with a naked flame
I stand with the sons of Cain
Burned by the fire of love
Burned by the fire of love

My church ( Wave Church in Virginia Beach,VA) young adult ministry released a new song on apple iTunes called "This Means Love". All you have to do is search in iTunes this means love Royal Youth. It should be the first song that pops up! If you have iTunes I definitely recommend listening to it. My church also has a whole album on iTunes "Take Over" by Wave Worship.

Well considering we can't have a religious thread due to the immature nature of the community section and posters that feel the need to debunk/ challenge religion Christian values at every turn, I just gonna ask for prayer Apollo. Dealing with some personal struggles in my career, and in my personal life. Just praying for God to grant me some guidance and wisdom.
