Chuck Palahniuk's "Choke"

Oh, you'll get a review. It will be the greatest written review of all time!

No problem. It's a very nice place to see movies that don't come out in the major theater chains.
I'll be sure to check out some other indie releases there. What are your thoughts about Rockwell in the lead...Seeing as how you read the book? From the brief description I read it sounds like this is a perfect role for him.

I'm expecting early reviews from you guys. :D

You ceratainly will

Rockwell is such an underrated actor. I find this to be inspiring casting for him to play Victor. The story is very unique and so is the character, but I believe he has the acting chops to pull this off. The story shifts from comedic to dramatic numerous times and he seems like the right actor who can handle both mediums. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in this.

Does anybody know if a trailer is coming out at all?

Choke Trailer Hits
Source: MTV

MTV has revealed the trailer for Fox Searchlight Pictures' Choke, written/directed by Clark Gregg and starring Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Huston, Brad William Henke and Kelly Macdonald. The film, opening September 26, is adapted from the best-selling, critically acclaimed novel by Chuck Palahniuk ("Fight Club").

In the film, Rockwell plays Victor Mancini, a sex-addicted med-school dropout, who keeps his increasingly deranged mother, Ida (Huston), in an expensive private medical hospital by working days as a historical reenactor at a Colonial Williamsburg theme park. At night Victor runs a scam by deliberately choking in upscale restaurants to form parasitic relationships with the wealthy patrons who "save" him. When, in a rare lucid movement, Ida reveals that she has withheld the shocking truth of his father's identity, Victor enlists the aid of his best friend, Denny (Henke) and his mother's beautiful attending physician, Dr. Paige Marshall (Macdonald), to solve the mystery before the truth of his possibly divine parentage is lost forever.

You can watch the trailer in Flash format or High Definition QuickTime here (international users will have to watch it using the QuickTime link).

That trailer was kind of craptacular. But most of the really funny stuff in the movie you can't really put in a trailer.

The movie itself was pretty decent. Biggest problem I had (mind you I have not read the book) was it seemed a little too lightheared and had too much of a "happy" ending. But the film is very well acted and I enjoyed it for what it was.

one of my favorite palahniuk books, and that trailer looks great.

I think the problem is that it's written by the author of Fight Club and some were expecting the same visual flair, but that flair had nothing to do with the book and everything to do with the director Fincher, he is a visualist, his movies always look stunning. Having said that as a dramedy ? I guess...It didn't look very appealing to me.

Looks pretty funny.

I like Rockwell so I'll be checking it out.

Trailer didn't really impress me, I was expecting more (not because it's written by FC writer, but because there wasn't enough dramatic stuff).

Wasn't a bad trailer. Hopefully it's released near me.

i agree.

We'll see what happens.

To me, I felt like the trailer was trying too hard to be quirky. Now, we're seeing the scenes out of context of course, but I need to see a better trailer, hopefully in the near future.

i laughed only at the joke at the end of the trailer...

ok i went and saw this at sundance back in january... midnight showing at the tower theater in salt lake...

if i hadn't read the book, i probably would have enjoyed it more... it was funny, but it was a bit too light-hearted for something based on palahniuk... also, the end was a disappointment... whereas the book ends perfectly, the movie
has a much happier ending, involving victor and dr. marshall making out for what seems like forever in an airplane bathroom.

anjelica huston and sam rockwell did a great job, in fact the whole cast was pretty good... and a lot of the book remains intact, and it uses the same style of voiceover from fight club... the sex addict meetings are probably the highlight of the movie...

i'm not too much of a reviewer, but i gave it 3 stars when they gave us the slips of paper to vote on it for the audience award afterwards...

Well.....It's a movie ain't it? A professional one? It doesn't have to look like a home video either.

Oh, you meant visuals as in cinematography. My mistake. Well yeah, I agree with you then. That's what happens when a film doesn't have much money to work with and has an independent film budget.

Sorry War Party but if it has nudity it can't be linked here, maybe just let ppl know what site to go to to see it.
