Entrepreneur Richard Branson is in negotiations to acquire T.S. Nowlin's script "Columbus" reports Deadline.
McG is attached to produce and direct the story which deals with Christopher Columbus and his discovery of America, but will be shot in a highly stylised "300"-esque manner. The script went out last week to studios.
A pair of rival features about the famed explorer in the early 90's, Ridley Scott's "1492: Conquest of Paradise" and John Glen's "Christopher Columbus: The Discovery", both fizzled at the box-office.

:(

I wonder when Hollywood decides to make a biblical movie or something in "highly stylised 300-esque manner"... :whatever:

Moses: "THIS. IS. EGYPT!!"

Jesus: 'This. Is... Uncomfortable!'

Eggyman: 'This. Is. Double post.'

Goddammit. I hate Columbus even more know. Not only does he get his own holiday, but a movie too?

I've gotten completely lost on my way to someplace and accidentally found a really cool place that people already knew about multiple times, AND I didn't bring all sorts of death and trouble to the people already there. WHERE'S MY FRIGGIN' HOLIDAY/MAJOR MOTION PICTURE?

:argh:

The way I look at Columbus is this: What happened..happened. It built the modern world but it also destroyed millions of lives. But that's just history.

That said, I don't think we should NOT romanticize Columbus at this point. Especially what we really know what happened with his cruel acts. Heck, his real name isn't really Christoper Columbus.

Tell that to all the people who are actually deserving of holidays.

A proper Columbus film would be awesome. But I stress the word proper. With McG attached and this "300 style" we won't be getting it.

Hell get Terrence Mallick to do it!
