Comic Book Purchases and Thoughts for March 19th

Justice League of America #19 It was okay at best. Pretty much a filler honestly. Was the fact that Martian Manhunter was on the prison planet impersonating someone common knowledge or did we find out about it the same time the rest of the Justice League did when Batman told them...All in all nothing spectacular or grand.

Batman and the Outsiders #5There were pictures, there were words, there was witty banter, teammate squabbles, shots fired, missiles launching and yea that was about it. Oh yeah there was also the whole
Ralph and Sue Dibny as scientist spirits or some crazy ish like that
What?!?!?!?

i think im reading the wrong comics some things are not giving me as much happiness as before maybe it was just an off week.....

This was a kick-ass week for comics. Thor, Incredible Herc, Immortal Iron Fist, The Order, Iron Man: Director of SHIELD, Captain America, Checkmate, and Fables all in one bloody week. I nearly spooged myself to death in my shop.

For real. Add to that The Sword, Invincible, Fear Agent, Ex Machina, The Circle and Wasteland, and this is probably the best week in comics that I've seen in a very long time.

GREATEST moment of the week was the return of Ralph and Sue as Deadman styled heroes. Sign me up for more of THAT.

Yeah, that was weird. I forgot I read that ****. Honestly, Batman and the Outsiders always disappoints me. It's all right, but every issue leaves me feeling it's just not as good as it could and should be. I mean, it's Chuck Dixon, who's a good writer, and Julian Lopez, who's a ****ing great artist. Shouldn't it be better than just "all right"? At this point, I wish Dixon would just get rid of Batgirl, for example, because she seems awkward and weird and nothing about her recent behavior has been addressed and she's basically just a distraction now. And, of course, every time I see stupid Geo-Force, I can't help thinking of the Martian Manhunter and how much better he would be at everything Geo-Force does.

But Ralph and Sue's new status quo certainly has a lot of potential for fun.

Once I heard that J'onn wasn't going to stick around, I didn't even bother picking up the first issue. The art does look great, though.

i agree...i was excited batman starting his own team of people to "do what others won't" had great potential for me ...now i just don't know

Ah well. There are so many great Batman related titles that I've yet to read. I pick up Dini's DC book, but for the most part, I get my Batman fill in back issues. Brubaker's Catwoman, Rucka's Detective Comics, Gotham Central...there's plenty to go around.

I wish Gotham Central were still going. Hell, I wish Checkmate were still going to be good after next month, too. :(

Checkmate is great, but I'd much rather see another GC book.

did not understand that at all...what was that all about???

They established them as ghostly detectives a while ago. The Deadman-power twist is an awesome new direction for them. It's going to be hysterical every time when two bad guys start calling each other honey and playing kissy face.

Geo-Force is a personal favorite of mine, but I loved the original Outsiders book. He's pretty powerful, and they never play enough on his royalty angle.

I think they need to ramp up Batgirl too, make her more like she was in Elite.

i totally missed that what comics did it happend in?

52.

The problem with that is that they run the risk of making her too similar to Katana if they do that. Katana's already a more mature, stoic badass. I really don't get what purpose Batgirl serves on the team at all, to be honest.

ahh i stopped reading 52 at like issue 30 or 20 something

the week i don't pick up outsiders and ralph and sue show up.

back to the shop for me.

Yeah, it's too bad that was basically the only noteworthy thing in the issue. I've been really disappointed in Batman and the Outsiders.

It's been known for quite a while that the Martian Manhunter was on the prison planet impersonating Blockbuster, that's if you are reading Salvation Run.
