You know any good programs that work with vista to hide my IP? I'm still getting spam emails from sites I visit
I use a cloak IP when I surf but it makes the pages load pretty slow

I see jaguarr's response...I am not following the question...
Are you speaking of an anonymizer web proxy?

I like to surf alot but also like to hide my Ip so I don't have to worried about getting spammed, I have noticed after I do alot of surfing I get crap email from stuff I was look at while surfing. Usually my filters blocks about 98% of it but still get some in

I will be honest, I still dont understand the issue.

Some websites run little spyware programs that will pull personal information out of your browser like an email address, physical address, real name, credit card numbers, etc. Porn sites are famous for that, actually, which is why I was teasing Morg. He's surfing those kinds of sites with no cookie blocking or spyware prevention.

I surf some porn sites looking for gifs, found tons at one site of Elisha ones I never seen before :woot: so I make a habit of checking certain ones and google

But started noticed I get those moronic sites claiming to hook you up with a sex partner after I do alot surfing around. Pretty sure it's because I look around those porn sites forums and such because I do know some sites collect your IP, personally I prefer to surf anonymously

I do have my settings on high and usually block all cookies

OK, so its basically a malware/virus/spyware issue.

Keep yourself updated and keep associated software updated....the issue should be pretty minimal. Also, dont use Microsoft's products. I dont say that to bash Microsoft, ... its because they write these things to EXPLOIT Microsoft products... Use other products...Firefox...thunderbird...Opera...etc...

Are you sure they are pulling your current info? Or just info that is floating around the bad guys who keep reselling your email address?

Hmm, that's a possibility. I know I made a few mistakes years ago posting my addy in public forums.

Join the club...my email gets about 100 spam a day....
I use thunderbird and it pretty much spam classifies it perfectly.

BTW is there any way to find out who's hosting your pics? I have some at fileden.com and they removed them all because I went over the bandwidth but I only posted 2 in a forum and I get the feeling some idiot stealing my bandwidth

My favorite Spyware/Antivirus is OS X

Added the following:

14) Encrypt Vital Data
Encypting data is not a hard thing to do, and makes your data much more secure. Granted, using encryption on a desktop might not be trully needed, but encrypting data on a laptop I would suggest, if you take your laptop with you. I suggest using an application called TrueCrypt. I have posted a link to a thread specifically for Truecrypt in the following LINK.
In an issue of this nature, I suggest you create an encrypted file for mounting. This file can house all your data that needs to be encrypted, email/tax info/whatever. This allows you to have most of your data on your laptop NOT encrypted, but only a small portion encrypted.

For Mac OS X users, FileVault will handle this for you. It's built into the OS. Check the Security section of Preferences.

Any other suggestions to this?
I will end up re-writing this and post a new thread for it, and delete this one eventually.
