So Creeper's BNW book...I haven't read it because I want to save it for when I have the whole thing, or at least more than one issue, which since I'm super-cut off from comics right now, will be awhile. Does it totally reboot the Creeper, erase him from previous post-Crisis (that's post-COIE, to those of you who insist on changing the meaning of the term to post-IC) continuity?

If it does...why the hell's he in Villains United Special?

If it doesn't...has Creeper just been laying low, and now that Oracle called him up for the big fight in Metropolis, he's back in the game?

Continuity errors. I know hes been around in the background a lot, but in a Steve Niles interview I remember he stated he was starting with the origin story but keeping it in real time. Its a retcon without explaination although Im sure they'll just blame it on the mixing of the worlds.

Why? WHY? WHYYYYYYY????

Did they have to do this for The Question Returns? No. They just explained where he'd been and what he'd been doing. ****in' amateurs.

Where was it stated the new Creeper series is a reboot?

It shows Jack Ryder becoming the Creeper in present continuity

And the people at DC probably tear their hair out trying to figure out why their popularity remains lower than it once was. :(

From Steve Niles in Comic Book Resource:

"What I'm doing is starting from scratch. Using the original origin and modifying it a bit. I'm recreating the Creeper for the modern DC Universe."

Its pretty good none the less. I really am enjoying it.

Said the Marvel fan? Marvel wrote the book on this confusing ****.

The Creeper isnt that confusing. The new story is real cool. The whole split personality aspect is great.

I really perfer this incarnation ... and I've seen just about all of them.

This is by far the best and the most unique.

As to how it fits into continuity, I hope they take their time figuring that out and not just rush in with some weak explanation that will have to be fixed at some point.

Actually I started out reading DC. I had read comics for years before I even knew that Marvel existed. My all time favorite comic is the Silver Age Legion.

Could they still make it pre-Infinite Crisis maybe? Could they do that? Just make it supercede the old origin, while taking place at the same time as the old origin?

the thing with Infinite Crisis is, it created a whole new world, with elements of all the other worlds from the multi-verse in them...so this is the new in continuity origin for the creeper. because of IC, Creeper was wiped from continuity, and is now restarting...it's not that confusing at all.

Generally, I agree with you, and don't find a big problem with massive universe alterations. But Creeper was shown post-New Earth at the end of the VU Special. That does bother me.
