A cryptid is any creature whose existence has been suggested but not proven scientifically. But know it seems technology is catching up and catching these strange animals. Like recently with the shocking video of the Chupacabra is a legendary cryptid rumored to inhabit parts of the Americas. The name comes from the animal's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, especially goats.

And the errie single photo of the Montauk Monster
The "Montauk Monster" is an unidentified creature which washed ashore dead on a beach near the Montauk, New York business district in July 2008.[1][2] The identity of the creature, and the veracity of stories surrounding it, has been the subject of unresolved controversy and speculation. Its discovery has been covered by national news channels such as CNN, and has generated popular discussion on the Internet.

Are these acurances all just elabrate hoaxs or DO CYPTIDS WALK AMONG US?!

i've been told by experts that it's a racoon.
but it doesn't look like a racoon to me because racoons don't have beaks.

I thought it was found to be a turtle without its shell. That seems more likely.

Too long of a tail no?
Don't know how much of that is in the shell and of course it could have had just a long tail. I have never seen a turtle without the shell but all the features outside of it look like a turtle.

This thread is kind of redundant, since there's already threads on the Montauk Monster, the Bigfoot corpse, and the Chupacabra video.

However, here's the score so far:

Montauk Monster - probably just a racoon or cat that was floating dead in the water too long, swelled up and lost its hair. The "beak" is actually just the exposed upper jawbone, as seen more clearly in photos taken from other angles.

Bigfoot corpse - total fake perpetrated by a guy who already pulled a Bigfoot scam a couple years ago.

Chupacabra video - seems to indeed show a weird-looking dog/coyote with an unusally large snout.

I thought it was found to be a turtle without its shell. That seems more likely.

Turtles don't have skin under their shells. Their skin attaches to the shell around the edges, and their spines are fused to the top of the shell. To remove the shell would be to tear its spine out and it would have a gaping hole and be virtually unrecognizable as an animal of any kind.

This isn't eactly cryptid news, BUT

Someone I know...eh...thats about as much as I should say...is VERY high up in the government...they have total security clearance and whenever big things happen, they are a part of the lockdown unit or what have you...

Whenever I get together with this person, I try to talk him/her out of some UFO info, and they always refuse to say anything. The other day they asked "what do you think would happen if the government admitted to life on other planets" and I responded that I dont know, and asked why. They said " I cant get too specific, but we've found bricks on Mars, and we're leading up to the announcement".

Again, this person is not filing paperwork or some random army soldier...they are WAY up the chain of command...take it for what its worth.

yeah...I figured its worth nothing when someone says that...people on the internet say stuff like this all the time...

Except that I happen to say stuff that comes true...its just usually about music news.

So because you say things that 'musically' come true, you are credible in having some friend who does some government stuff and says things?

I have a friend who knows your friend and my friend says yours wears a helmet and drools. I'm credible because I say things that are true.

Well...at the very least I have a reputation for saying things that people doubt, then those things come true...in the realm of music anyway...

That means nothing when it comes to government affairs...but my reputation is that I dont say things unless they are true, or at the vbery least coming from what I believe is a reliable source.

You remind me of the people who didnt believe me when I posted on a message board that KISS was ending their reunion and hiring Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer. People laughed and mocked and joked about how I know nothing, and then a few months later the band did exactly that. Those people were already acting all big and bad and mocking someone else and never bothered to take the time to eat some crow...

I am obviously not nearly as positive about this...as...you know...I dont even believe in UFOs...but amazingly, some peoples word does carry a bit of weight. I trust this person...and there are people who truist me...so that should be that...I dont think my initial post made any positive declaration of any sort other than "this is what I heard".

I heard that Cloverfield was real video that the government turned into a movie to convince everyone that it never happened, it's this big conspiracy that I heard about from this really trustworthy guy and stuff. You'll be sorry when I'm right!

OH MAH GAWDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!

It's true. If Runt says it. It's true.

It can't be a turtle, the shell is part of their skeletal system and can't just "come off".

The difference being that Cloverfield is a movie...

and another difference is that I actually do know people in all walks of life...my life extends beyond the internet...which is why i dont feel the need to act big and tough on a message board.

But yeah...since you are a well established poster here, if you posted something as a rumor that you heard then I think some people here would likely take you for your word...not neceassarily believe every word you say...but at least trust that YOU believe it.

I expect the same courtesy as any other established poster. You dont have to believe what my source said...but you should at least believe that there is a source...and that they are exactly what I claim them to be.

But you know...its funny...people say "dave only knows emo bands, he doesnt know a Metal band" then it turns out that i do and people say "Dave doesnt know actors, he only knows musicians" and then it turns out that I do. Now you are saying that I dont know governemnt officials...because well...you dont think I do...and thats ridiculous...Ive never posted anything even remotely approaching a lie on this site...so if I say I know someone and they told me a rumor, then that should be good enough. Its not like Im swearing that the alien invasion is coming, or that you should even believe my friend.

I thought it came out that the "Montauk Monster" thing was a prop from some indie movie.

No, see, Cloverfield wasn't a movie, that's the whole thing. That guy told me that it was a real video that they turned into a movie in a big plot to make everyone think it's just a movie! You're buying into the conspiracy, man!

Haha. Yes, this is all an act on the intarwebz. I'm really very kind, humble doormouse in real life.

Expecting courtesy on the internet was mistake #1.

I suppose I should extend the courtesy to Aunt Petunia and RemyX3 in believing that they're attractive females, and then send them noodz of myself as a part of that same courtesy. In fact, everyone should believe everything on the internet because that's the nice thing to do.

I have no idea who either Aunt Petunia or RemyX3 are...so I'm not defending any of that...but as a general rule, I accept all female noodz.

Its not a matter of "believe what you read on the internet"...thats obviously stupid. I didnt even go as far to say "you must believe who I believe". I was just throwing it out there. I do think that even on silly message boards some peoples words carry weight. Vile One or Trunk seem to be pretty involved with box office numbers, whether by profession or hobby, so I dont really slam their methods or what have you (though its fine to have a difference of opinions). I simply know what I know, and will accept the wisdom of others in areas that I dont have knowledge in.

For instance...I have a GREAT ghost story for people...a friend of mine has moved his family out of the house and they are all in fear and theres an exorcist coming from the Catholic church and its just insane...but I havent posted about it here because I think it is all a case of mass paranoia...I think my friends have lost their freaking minds...

It's not really about courtesy, its about knowing who you are dealing with before getting into a discussion. My history at this site is not one of making bizarre claims or making things up. Heck, I even said "take it for what its worth" because even a government official can make stuff up or be wrong about something.
