I'm surprised J.K. Rowling and Christopher Little haven't yet picked a studio home for the film adaptation of Cuckoo's Calling, a crime novel she published under the pseudonym 'Robert Galbraith.' Deadline says that several studios have been circling the property ever since the true author was unveiled, but that WB may have an edge due to the Harry Potter series they produced. (No word on who else wants in 'Calling.')

But considering the book publisher announced a follow-up novel, The Silkworm, which comes out this June -- it makes me think J.K.R. wants to have the winning studio commit to two films rather than one. (Who knows how many she'll write?)

I'm reading the first novel now (I had it since last year but just started reading), and I'm really digging it. Certainly big potential for a mid-budget R-rated franchise.

I thought it was a really excellent book with great characters

The role of Cormoran Strike is catnip for an up-and-comer UK actor to break out, i.e. Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock.
