Cuphead is coming to Switch via the Nintendo eShop on April 18 for $19.99 USD / $25.99 CAD / £16.99 / 19,99€, publisher Microsoft and developer Studio MDHR announced. Pre-orders are available now.

A major free content update will launch for all platforms on the same day, which adds requested features such as playable Mugman in single-player, new fully animated cutscenes, never-before-seen art and fight intros, 10 additional languages, a plethora of bug fixes, and plenty of secrets for players to discover. Read the full list of changes here.

The classic run and gun action game is currently available for Xbox One, PC, and Mac. Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:

Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.

Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil!

Everyone was caught off guard when they got to see that first trailer announcing Cuphead for the Nintendo Switch, as it is probably one of the most out of left field announcements to ever come out from Nintendo, or even Studio MDHR; the ones who developed the game.

The acclaimed run-and-gun from Studio MDHR has been met with nothing but praise from critics and general audiences, so it is more than likely that the game will be as well-received when it finally makes its way into the Nintendo Switch on the 18th of April.

As we get closer to the game's release date, players have been wanting to finally see how the game runs on the Switch, and thankfully they'll now have their chance — as the Nintendo Minute crew give us our first look at Cuphead running perfectly on Nintendo's handheld hybrid console.

Take a look:

I do love the fleischer design though. I wish more games would utilise it

I haven’t played this but always thought the visual style was quite unique/cool. This new stuff looks good too.

Think Contra in the world of Fleischer cartoons. It's a hard game.

I used to like Contra but back then many games were harder. Not quite as up for crazy difficulties as an old
man. :cwink:

It's fun otherwise. The art style alone is why it's generated a fandom. It's also coming out with a Netflix show in 2022.

I’ll definitely play it for the unique style alone. I think I might have heard about the show. Will definitely be watching
