After Heath Ledger's outstanding job with the last role of his life I wanted to prize it just fairly: by a new custom made 1/6 scale (ca. 14 inches high - including base, 12 w/o base) statue in my collection. The head's look is based on the HT Bank Robber joker, but self-made.

The materials: Super Sculpey, Apoxie Sculpt and resin, witch I just poured in thin layers onto the inside of the coat - just to give it more stability.
The Knife is made of Apoxie, the Card and the Money has been printed and the chain is made of... well - chain. *grin*
Sculpting the Hair was really difficult... I decided to add very thin chips i scraped off a plastic sheet to make it more struggly.

The paintjob wasn't easy. I used some decals for the shirt, but painting the pinstripes on his trousers (freehand) took three hours...

But now it is done - and he is looking good on my sideboard.

Thanks for looking!

The best TDK Joker figure i´ve seen...

:applaudYou have serious talent - that is an amazing likeness, with very nice detail. If mass produced, that thing would sell like crazy. Nice job.

Absolutely amazing. Surely you should be working as a sculptor for DC Direct? Your statue is far superior to their recent limited edtion effort. You should contact them...

Jesus Christ,man!!! outstanding!

how are you not employed by a toy/statue company??!!

How much?
Is this a serious question?? :woot:
Well, nobody has made an offer that was worth thinking about yet. I do not sculpt for selling, but I cannot say "never" if I get a good offer. But this is an world-wide unique piece. I can't imagine to sell it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the kind words. :yay:

Well, it's right: I am just a hobby sculptor.
Here in Germany even collecting statues is a rare hobby - not to mention figure kitbuilding or even sculpting. I began modifying kits and decided to make statues for me because there have been ideas of some pieces I couldn't get anywhere - for example an Alex Ross "Superman landing" statue in 1/4 scale (18 inches). One more reason is the money you have to spend here for collectables. I won't pay 300 dollars for one DC Direct statue... All the more when I probably can make it even better. :woot:

I love spending my sparetime in my little studio and I am member in several forums about statues and sculpting. For example it is biiig fun for me to find ways of imitate materials and trying out techniques - such as the carbon parts at the Koto Dark Knight as shown.
I have much experience as a portrait artist - so I usually can get faces right, although I had to practice to sculpt it in 3-d. :whatever:

But I never tried to earn money with it. I was asked several times to make statues in commission... but I denied. I already have a "real job".
I think I will keep it the same it has been until now: just a hobby to have fun with. Without pressure, without stress. That's my way. :yay:

Well, if your "real" job doesn't give you stress and you don't want to be paid for doing a hobby ( I can't think of anything better ) then that's your choice. I will say that you are missing a great opportunity. If you have talent like this you should make the most of it.

Outstanding work! You nailed it!

That is absolutely one of the most beautiful fan sculpts I've ever seen. Why don't people like you work over at DC Direct? You have serious talent my friend.

holy ****!! thats amazing. the head actually looks almost identical to the HT Joker. Very good job!

Thank you!

I've got some PMs asking for more detail pics of the hands. I'll try to make some more at the weekend. I feel flattered by your response. Thanx again.

Every Job has its own stress parts IMO. But I managed it one time to make my hobby a job by becoming an advertising graphic designer with my own little ad agency. So I know the meaning of making a hobby my new job. But I have to admit: If I were in a country that had better options for sculpting I would think about it. :whatever:

I saw it some time ago on statueforum.

That is just fantastic. The face sculpt, the paint, etc. Looks really really good. I just dont like the left arm. Appears too large.

that's crazy good  and the likeness is outstanding! Phenomenal paint job too

Thanks!

That's right. I made it about two months ago. I would have shown it here earlier but I had some trouble with registrating in this forum. Thanks to the admins who helped me out of that!

Very impressive job, I like it a lot.
