Now, I'll admit to being as much of an Affleck basher as any other cat on these boards. That being said, I just wanna officially turn in my anti-Affleck card after seeing some footage of him portraying George Reeves in the new flick, Hollywoodland. It certainly wouldn't have killed the make-up people to give Ben a more accurate looking prosthetic chin, but aside from that, he really gives a performance worthy of some of his more credible films including Boiler Room, Chasing Amy, and Changing Lanes. Hopefully, shtuping Jenny Garner could do more good for Ben than anything else providing that he's gonna stick to his newly polished guns and stop making **** pictures. Keep the fingers crossed and screw Michael Bay with a rusty pipe.

-so sayeth the mastermind-

i've always liked the 'Fleck. i think he's an actor with alot more charisma and talent than common sense. he just doesn't pick many good roles. Hollywoodland seemes to be one of the rare occasions that he's picked a good one.

I'm with you just because you call people, 'cat'. :)

His shining moment I would say would be in Chasing Amy when he tells her how he feels about her. Its when theyre driving down the road in the rain.

Yeah, that was great--he was also great near the end when he tries to tell his idea of how to keep them all together.

I'm not a big fan of his, but he looks really great in Hollywoodland.

he did a phenominal job in both chasing amy and dogma. kevin smith, whether you like him or not, seems to be able to get the best performances out of him.

The Fleck is the bomb. Some of his choices in roles are not.

are there any pics out of him in the superman costume?

I found that scene physically painful to watch.

He'll be forever average in my eyes. Never great never bad:up:

If you watch the First Look HBO special for Hollywoodland, there's a good amount of footage of him as Reeves filming the Superman series in costume. As well as a scene that implies Reeves was a big practical joker on the set, dropping his pants and pretending to hump the actress who played Lois Lane.

I've always liked Affleck, and the only bad things he's done, IMHO, are Pearl Harbor (which no one could have saved) and Gigli (which no one could have saved, also)...I even liked Reindeer Games as the big dumb action movie it was :o

And he was also increasingly unbearable in Armageddon.

ok, 3 bad movies...but no one could have saved any of them :o

The thing I didnt get about the 'Fleck hate was a lot of his movies that he made when he was Hollywood's goldenboy werent that great to some of the stuff he did in his lackluster years.....

Why because you were so moved?
No, because I thought it was horribly written. Who the hell says 'no pun intended' in that kind of conversation?

I never either loved or hated him, I´m kinda indifferent, but I been hearing great things about his performance in Hollywoodland.
