Daniel Cudmore already played Colossus in the XCU however let's not kid ourselves here, it's not like the XCU hasn't had worse continuity issues at this point. The dude is 35, 6'6, 250 lbs and a powerhouse. He's a decent actor and with some good practical makeup / effects we would have had a much better, spot on representation of the character Cable. This version of Cable and Domino that we got are piss poor lazy attempts which turned out looking like high end attempts at a comic con cosplay. Nothing more, nothing less.

Cable is supposed to tower over Deadpool, coming in at 6'8, 350 lbs. Not ending up smaller than Deadpool with Brolin coming in at 5'10 and 190 lbs. Reynolds is taller than Brolin by almost 5 inches.

Yeah, no. Well, he actually turned the role down, and Deadpool was the first time Colossus was actually interesting and had some personality on the big screen. Next.

No he turned down the role of Colossus in Deadpool because of the route they wanted to go with the character, again let's not kid ourselves here the character representations we've gotten to date aren't because of the actors but the directors using them (Let's look at characters like Jubilee). Colossus in Deadpool was pure CGI and a voice given more screen-time, a bigger role and more attention, utilized better by a director. Of course he's going to shine brighter.

Doesn't change the fact that he turned it down, and could've easily went with Tim Miller's take on the character, considering that he ain't really got better prospects as far as his acting career goes.
I really like Stefan Kapicic in the role, so it's not like I really miss him.

All they wanted Cudmore for was MoCap not appearance or voice. Of course he was going to turn it down especially after appearing without the use of CGI in previous movies. It wouldn't have been him on screen.

Oh, man, and keep in mind that I just read that you think that he would be a better Cable. I thought you just missed him as Colossus. HELL NO! Thank God they actually hired a talented actor to play the role and go toe to toe with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. The two characters have got a buddy movie relationship going on, and everyone knows that the key to a great buddy movies is the chemistry between the two actors. And you just can't get that out of someone as wooden as Daniel Cudmore. Who cares that he won't tower of Deadpool....

This is how I felt about Affleck's Catman costume. I don't love Cable's look but mostly just cuz he's too lean. I think he should've at least looked as bulky as Chris Evans did in the first Captain America flick but I don't hate the look either.
Domino's look is a natural improvement to me that I love, I actually feel it would've been more lazier, uninspired and cheap looking if they had gone comic accurate for her. Its been done.

Also I've seen Cudmore in nothing outside the X-films that would suggest he's a Decent actor. I'd pick Dolph Lundgren over this guy any day of the week.

It only takes some simple camera angles to make Brolin look bigger than Reynolds, so this is really a non-issue. Plus it means we get someone who can actually act in the role as Cable.

Close the thread, this is insane

Daniel Cudmore sucked as Colossus, Russian Colossus is always better

Was good as Colossus.
He didn't talk a lot, so we don't know how his Russian would sound.

I think Cable requires the actor to string together more than two words. And do it convincingly. So that counts Cudmore out.

I don't mind Cudmore, good looking well built guy. No idea how he'd go in a major supporting role.
But ahead of Josh Brolin (who also looks flipping fantastic) as Cable? No thank you.

Did this guy do anything more than cameo in the couple of X-Men movies he appeared in?

nothing against Daniel Cudmore in general but, if your only reason for suggesting him for the role is because he comes closer to meeting the height/size of the comic book version of the character, then I'd have to say "no"

furthermore he is way to young for he role... there are plenty of older actors who are tall and buff that could have fit the "look" of the character better, maybe? so I don't see the need to re-use an actor, either way

I mean most comic book characters are way over exaggerated in their physical appearance, expecting actors to fit that body type is asking alot... an if you only cast based on body type, only wrestlers and body builders (with little to no acting experiences) would be playing these types of roles lol

He is already appearing in Dark Phoenix, probably as Gladiator.

Anyway, he's too young to play Cable.

For the love of all that is holy, LET IT GO!!!!

Of course he has.

He's had a cameo in one of the Twilight movies. :woot:

Undeniably, Brolin is not as tall [which they can fix with costuming and camera tricks] or as muscular as his comicbook counterpart [hell, very few actors are] but he's still nevertheless got himself in tremendous shape. Seems to me that the reasoning behind this thread is SOLELY based on physical appearance because if we are comparing acting chops of the two actors, then there's absolutely no contest. Hell, it's not even the same sport.
